Some great work already in this campaign. Love it.
@ Andy
That engine looks awesome. I think I have seen those kits at a local shop. Might have a look at them soon.
Well Last weekend I finally got the 1904 Mercedes So I'm off to the races from now on.

It's so fantastic to see so many kits which aren't aircraft

They deserve their day in the sun.

This is the Airfix II Campaign thread. Post your progress, stories, triumphs and frustrations here : )!
well, there I was happily proceeding with the F-84 which is nearly ready for an undercoat when, catastrophe, my hand hit the dowell inserted into the jetpipe to use as a handle. The Thunderchief flew for the first time in it's life, only a couple of feet but far enough to break the bond on the port wing. Thankfully, a quick application of Mek-Pak and it's as good as new thanks to all the work done previously.
Onwards and upwards

@ Brent
Thanks a lot. And I know it full well that it can be built into a nice model.. I tried to built it for the last Airfix campaign.. Screwed it up in the end too. So this is round 2 between me and the Merc

After all my big talk about the ultimate Airfix II build with the Bentley I find I am having second thoughts about molesting the plastic..

Help....

Take a deep breath and centre yourself. Sit crosslegged on the carpet and say "Ooooooooooooooom". Get in touch with yourself and the Universe and listen to the kit. It's saying "Build meeeeeeee! Give in Warren, you know you want to. Build meeeeeeee!"

Wait a sec...
Wait a second.. you are right! There is a very faint noise coming from the box... oh.. no.. just some loose bits rattling around.
Getting down on the floor... ouch!! Bloody bit of sprue I missed!!

You have convinced me Jessie.. So with out any further ado, I present .. oh wait a minute.. I will have to take some pictures.. back soon..

OK.. here we go then..

I don't think David Jones even sell toys anymore, let alone model kits.. $42.50 was a hefty price when this one was released!
So there we go. Now to pluck up the courage to cut a sprue..

Nah, they have re-released the plastic bits last year. It is the paints, glue and box which have any nostalgia value I think.
Cheers
Warren

I saw one of those IRL a few years ago. I was impressed by how large it was. Modern-day race cars would rattle around inside it.

That's a great choice Warren,I've always wanted to have a crack at the Bentley, the decals look shot
are you going to use the glue? I still use the tube stuff on certain bits
Hands up who remembers stator plates with coils, points and condensers and proper carburettor's

crankcase,piston and head painted

Coming together quite nicely

Andy, I have an ancient Veedub in the shed so I know all about them..

I will put the decals out in the sun and see what happens.

Ettore Bugatti did not call them the fastest Lorries in the world for no reason.

Did you know that the Blower Bentley never won Le Mans.. The non-blower 4.5 litre did but not the Blower Bentley..
Did you also know that the Bentley's body was fabric coated..
Cheers

I can divide it even more by saying fabric covered flocking over wood...

But you will only be able to tell on my model as the body work won't be bright and glossy, semi-gloss at most.
