Hello folks,

here's my completed B-26 Marauder. Last thing to do now is taking the photographs for our campaign gallery. Thanks for initiating it, Jessica, it was great fun doing a model for such an occasion. Won't be the last...

..and here's a closer look at the nose art. By the way, the canopy was done with decals as Jessica had it recommended in an earlier thread. Thanks for this, it worked out fine and much better than painting.

Peter, that looks really neat, I never built the B-26 and seeing yours has got me hankering after one.

Decals are finished, the end is in sight.

The head-on view illustrates one of this kit's flaws. The fit of the tailplanes is approximate at best. You have to be careful to get them both glued with the same dihedral, and they insist on sagging, as may be seen here. It has to sit on blocks until the glue is firmly set, not get hauled off for pictures right after gluing...

Well done, Jessica! It looks beautiful and reminds me of the cover of one of my first foreign aviation magazines I bought as a pupil. It was "Aeroplane monthly" (ca. in 1970)and I clearly remember the photo with such a Boeing 737 in that flowery livery.

That's a fantastic Churchill! It's good to see some armour getting attention in this campaign.

We're now into the last 31 days of the campaign. The deadline draws ever closer and there are still some wonderful kits needing to be finished.

Finishers, don't forget to put your pictures in the gallery to qualify for your ribbon and to ensure that your model gets into the campaign end feature which I guarantee will find its way to the front page

Make sure to take your gallery pictures against a plain background and size them to at least 800 X 600 for best results in the feature. If you've already posted in the gallery but want to put better pictures up for the feature, please don't hesitate to do so

It would be really wonderful if you could all join us on the finishers' podium.

whoops! i got your pm about putting pics in the gallery jessie, so i've uploaded three, but they were taken on my bench with quite a bit of clutter around them, and not in my usual photo spot!

i'll take some better "formal" photos and get them swapped over!

For some reason it says I may not upload pictures to albums of any type...such as the Campaign one or my personal one!

I think that the image uploading is a site-wide problem today. Staff_jim needs to wind up the hamsters again. Be patient and try again tomorrow.

@Mark: Awesomely bright birdy Mark! Loving the paint job so far!

@Guido: I thought the paint job looked great Guido, it's never easy doing lines that fine freehand in 1/72nd scale! I like the out of the box thinking!

It would appear that I underestimated the amount of time remaining to complete this campaign. My mystery build will take a fair bit longer than the time I have left so the mystery build will remain just that for the time being.
So with that build bumped off into the distant future I went and had a look around in the stash and found another candidate for this campaign, a 1/72 Junkers Ju 52/3m. Not sure when Tantie Ju was released but I am sure it was long enough ago to qualify. But there is a but... I built the Junkers many many moons ago in my teens and really would like to build something different, sooo I had another look and found a Ford Tri-motor, like a Ju 52 predecessor if you will, and will build it instead. This is one I never built back in the day as it was pre-WW2 and an airliner on the box top, two things I never built back then.
Wish me luck with the old girl. I actually have a red-stripe issue of this one as well but that can stay unmolested for the moment.

It's off to the bench!

Watch out for fit issues, and the propellers are moulded as pushers. Perhaps that's why the original was so slow...
Replacements are the way to go.

I am building it like I was just a 12 year old (not much has changed really) so back then I had no idea about propellers being moulded wrongly etc. Fit issues, bah!

But thanks for the tips my dear.

Cheers

Well, this is going much better than I thought it would. Fit on some things has been 'problematical' but with a bit of trimming here and there is is going together no problem.
In the spirit of building it like I used to I am brush painting everything in the interior, but I may use the airbrush on the exterior.. depends on how well the Humbrol enamel covers. Again, I don't use Humbrol very often now but that and Airfix was about all that was available way back when.

And just to prove something is happening here are a few pictures.

Looks good!

I have one of those Airfix Trimotors with a set of the DRAW decals (actually 2 sets considering one came slightly misprinted in a few locations and he graciously sent me another free of charge), but with the end date set at the end of the month and it being completely unstarted I think I will save it.

I've got a BV141 to do next that I might be able to finish by the end of the month if I can get the Spirit of St Louis finished soon for the Pioneers build.
