Now that Bill is simply AWESOME! Love the sea and torpedo splashing in! I also really like the idea of the clear support it's similar to an idea I've been tossing around after seeing a flying display of Enterprises!

Brilliant Bill, brilliant. You've inspired me, as I'll try to do a sea scape for my ship.
Do space ships "fly" since they don't need wings?

Nice job William, the stand supports the model in an unobtrusive way, but if you can, reduce the amount of deflection on the ailerons and put one of them down, they control the rolling movement of the aircraft and work in opposite directions. on most aircraft a little aileron movement produces a lot of effect and an aircraft dropping a torpedo would be flying as steady as possible. Thanks for the description of how you made the sea, Dioramas have never been my strong point.

And it is not physically possible to move your ailerons like that, unless there is something very wrong with the aircraft..

Bristol has been taken as far as it is going to go, but I have an Eduard 1/48 one in the stash, I might do the same scheme in a different kit

Great campaign idea, and I'll keep watching

Hello everyone.

I am almost finished my latest build so I am lining up to start my entry in this cornucoppia of Airfix goodness.

I could not find the entry I was going to build in any of those lists but they are not be 100% comprehensive as I know was released before 1976 as it is in my 1976 catalogue.

I am not going to say what this kit is but keep everyone guessing during the build. I am sure someone will recognise it fairly quickly but we will see if I can finish this slightly more difficult build in time for the end of the campaign.

If it is against the rules to keep the build a secret until the end then I will have to reveal the mystery build early.

Until then,
Cheers
Warren

Update: Just found out when it was issued.. but it is not in the list..

Wait a minute while I extract my foot from my mouth.. I did not see that there were multiple pages for each of the databases of the Airfix releases and I found my kit on page 2 of the 1960's releases.

So all I have to do now is build it I suppose..

Good work on the Bristol Fighter, Andrew; cool color scheme.

Brent, the Typhoon is coming right along. Keep your head up, this may be the last Ancient Airfix concern ever.

Airfix is really putting their foot down in the new-tool sector. In the cost/quality ratio, they are going to give the competition a real workover.

It's really nice to be part of a campaign remembering what Airfix used to be like.

I haven't looked at the kit with the lights off but I don't think they do...

So they can't be silver, or white, or powder blue, or green, or grey, or black...

I seem to remember the Gnat and the Ferrari 250 both being in red - and they're on page 2, assuming you're looking at the ATF site!

You are both correct.. none of those colours. I have a feeling there were a fair few more than just two kits moulded in red, the DH.88 Comet being one of them.

And lots of filing on HMS Daring; the deck is glued on, and gradually reshaping pieces and filling sink holes.

Mummified

Unmummified

And obviously needing quite a bit of touch up. I appear to have missed out in applying the masking on the right wing...

Wow, Jessie. That's why I hate masking models. A necessary labor, with a high risk of messing it all up. I'm sure your expertise will fix it in short order.

Bye the way. I have this kit and was originally going to do it over the Moth. You were first, though, and I didn't want to get shown-up by a far better modeler.

Golden Hind was a peculiar brown colour and I think almost the first release, the Bugatti was bright blue I think and the Bentley dark green, along with City of Truro. Now that would be a different build.

As it stands right now I doubt that anyone can do a worse job of it...
