Spanish manufacturer Toro Models recently released a new 2006 catalogue. You can find new 1:48 and 54mm figures, new 1:35 and 1:48 dioramas and also new 1:35 accesories, and finally a new impresive bust which won a gold medal at the Leon Rampante Show).
As there are stories all over the forums of the various releases announced at Nuremeberg, the idea of this story is to summarize (with the help of the lists produced by (I.P.M.S. Deutschland) the new releases in Warships, Aviation and Armor. What I will be doing is creating a list of some of the genuinely NEW items.. Looking at some manufacturers lists, I really wonder if they have any pride left....

I will not be covering DML (armor), or Italeri (warships or Armor) as these have been adequately covered in the News section....

Verlinden Productions have recently announced their February 2006 releases. Last month I commented on the growing number of 1:48 scale releases from Verlinden (which is not necessarily a bad thing), this month the 1:48 scale new releases actually outnumber the 1:35 scale releases!

Verlinden Productions have recently announced their January 2006 releases. Once again it is a compact mixed bag for both 1:48 and 1:35 scale modellers. I find it interesting to note the growing number of 1:48 scale releases, and must compliment VP on their capitalization of another well-known manufacturer's decision to break into the 1:48 scale market.
Osprey Publishing's January 2006 releases leaves me feeling a bit like a time-traveller, as their latest releases take us from Bronze Age Mesopotamia, to Classical period Ancient Greece, to the 1st Century AD Roman Emprire, to 16th Century Russia, and ending in the WW2 Pacific theatre with the Doolittle Raid and US Submarines.

The key to a succesful book on modelling is primarily accessibility. Far too many books are 'pitched' at 'expert/master' level, to be of much use to the 'average' modeller. One of the real success stories in recent years has been an initiative by Osprey Publishing of a series which has received much attention in the modelling world - The Osprey Modelling Series. The coming months will see a significant expansion of these useful books...
Once again the latest offering from Verlinden Productions can be summarized in a single news article. Although I's nice to see another model company on the 1/48 band-wagon, let's hope Verlinden can bring something less mediocre to the table...

It's been a couple of months since Korean firm Legend Productions announced any new releases - they are now back announcing a new release per series.

This year (2005) Osprey is bringing back almost all of it's Out of Print titles. February 2005 saw the arrival of the first batch of previously unavailable titles, and a second batch will be available from April 10, 2005.

In my first news story of the new year, it seems appropriate to cover the new releses of a company which has influenced many modellers, sculptors and designers - Verlinden Productions. While many companies seem to have fallen by the wayside, Verlinden is still there, bringing out new releases on a monthly basis...
