Many members may have heard the name ICM whispered in the hallowed virtual halls and passage ways of Armorama.com. Herewith follows a brief background on the Ukrainian company and a roundup of their 2005 new releases to date.
The original ICM company was formed in 1996. After 6 years of phenomenal growth and winning several prestigious awards, part of ICM, including many moulds, became property of Russian company "Alanger". The manufacturing of models was renewed again in 2003 by ICM Holding Company, to whom the ICM brand now belongs.

During 2003 ICM Holding released the model of the Soviet fighter I-5 in 1/72 scale in two variants, and also the family of Ural-375/4320 and ZiL-131 trucks (1/72). 2004 was marked by many new releases - among them Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3/E-4 in 1/72 scale, sets of figures in 1/48 scale ("WWII USAAF Pilots and Ground Personnel", "WWII Luftwaffe Pilots and Ground Personnel"), figures in 1/35 scale ("German Assault Troops (1917-1918)", "Soviet Sappers (1979-1988)"). The company has also ventured into 1/144 with the model of the German U -Boat type XXIII, and into 1/350 scale with the WWI German battleship "Markgraf".

From what I have heard, the quality of the ICM products is comparable to the likes of Tristar and DML, so this company is definitely one to keep an eye on. It will also be interesting to see if the company can regain their former glory - and range of products.

I recommend that readers browse the ICM website. The currect range is available in the 2005 catalogue, which can also be downloaded in PDF format.
