Report on the SCAHMS Modeling Seminar July 28th
By Penny Meyer

The SCAHMS all-day seminar and modeling day was a great success and we will be doing more of this sort of thing. We are a modeling club and I think it is wonderful that we are making movements to get us all working together and having fun. Please join us and help us make a regular schedule of getting together and glueing and painting things.

Our friend John Rosengrant was called away to work on a film location so he was very sorry to not be able to join us. He has said that he will re-schedule his workshop later in the year so please keep tuned in for the announcements.
When John announced that he could not make it, Bill Horan stepped in and offered to break his day into 2 sections, one of painting and one of sculpting. Thank-you so much for doing this Bill!
Our instructors were David Whitford and Lars Liljeblad in the Airbrush Area, Bill Horan and Penny Meyer for the Painting Area and Bill Horan for the Sculpting Area.

Bill Dunkle, one of our long time friends and supporters, came all the way from Phoenix to spend the morning session with us. He and Aaron Lovejoy from San Diego drove the furthest to come for instruction and we certainly appreciate their efforts to be able to join us. Bill D. and Aaron were joined by Steven Lloyd and Jim Mendoza in the painter’s area.

Bill Horan then provided us with a great demonstration of how he paints a 54mm head. Bill then answered a lot of questions and provided a critique of some work each person brought with them, to help them improve the look of their figures.

After lunch, Bill gave a demonstration of how he sculpts a figure with A&B putty.
Across the room we had a great airbrush work area set-up by Lars Liljeblad and David Whitford. Michael Butman, Jim Hill and Victoria Geis played with the equipment and had fun. It was Michael’s first time using an airbrush He really enjoyed himself and it inspired me to look into getting my airbrush set up at home. Aaron joined the airbrush group after Bill Horan retired for the day. It really was great fun to watch.
Stay tuned for updates on another SCAHMS workshop coming soon!
