Such a pity
What about a scrapyard vignette then? All covered in rust with weeds growing up through the bonnet?

That's tough, Robert, model was coming on nicely, I remember building that, a Bentley and I think it was a Lanchester many years ago. Some work done painting the Arado, pics to follow in a couple of days. Rigging and float fitting next.

Managed to photo the Arado tonight

Splinter camo is very subtle in this light

Some touching in needed

Only serious masking failure was under the left wing, small run to be tidied up

Look carefully you can see the drilled holes for the rigging wires just ahead of the rear undercarriage legs, and behind the forward ones

Airfix sparse cockpit, I will do the pilot and gunner figures. I wish I could do something about those aileron hinges

Tiny amount of progress, got the interior green shot tonight. Hope the rainy weather doesn't mess up the drying.

Hi all,
At the beginning of the campaign I posted two photos of a Ford Cortina and a FW 190D.

I have chosen to go with the Fw190 as it has always been a favorite of mine and brings back many memories.

So I have open the bag and away I go.

Progress to follow.

Cheers
Martin

Hey guys, it is finished! One OOB Airfix ME262.

(Bits skew-iff, but the door kept breaking off and the attaching pin eventually melted.

Excellent, it's good to see your work here Chris!

Probably my last work for a couple of weeks

Not finished yet but getting close.
Note, when I put the wing struts on the left on was very tight and it has slightly moved the float slackening the rigging, DOH!! by then I have fitted the float bottoms now how do I tighten that again? :-(

Pop off those struts and shorten them a bit so they don't force the floats over so much. Maybe even removing the locating pin at the wing end of the strut and letting it fall where it will would work.

That was my conclusion looking at the head on shot, the single end under the wing is wrong, and actually the kit has two sets in, so I can afford to experiment

Hi!
Here is my completed Chipmunk.

Cambridge University Air Squadron 1959
I grew up near Cambridge, my brother flew Chipmunks from Marshall Airport Cambridge when we were both in the Air Cadets in the late 60's, so that why I went with these decals.

That's really very nice! I have fond memories of that kit. I first built in 19(mumble). It was a bagged kit and it was the first model I ever finished without help. It was also the first RCAF airplane I ever had. I loved Airfix for that Later on I found out that the instructions were printed on the back of the header card!

@ Richard excellent model. I remember making it back in the early 1970's after I flew in one out of Exeter airport when I was in the CCF at school.

Meanwhile the FW 190 D comes along.

I hope the original decals are up to the job!!!!!

Its nice to go back to basics with no PE or after kit accessories.

Just the glue, pegs, razor blade and Humbrol enamels.

Way to go Airfix!!

Hope this finds you, at it leaves me, full of happy memories.

Cheers till paint time.

Thanks Martin
Fw109 looks like all parts fit well with min amount of filler.
Not bad for a oldie!

I just love the see-thru plastic stands.

Who else use to turn them upside down to use to mix paint?

Loads of you. I bet

Here is the finished article circa 1968. No weathering, No PE, No washes. Gosh wasn't life so much more simpler then.

Airfix at its simple best!

The decals were over 40 years old. They are showing their age with the yellowing, but heck this is antique Airfix after all.

Here's one with the stand.

This has been a brilliant campaign and its good to see some real old memory jerkers.

Thanks Jessica can't wait for the next airfix campaign.

I have posted the final image in the Airfix gallery.

I look forward to seeing the other builds being completed.

Cheers to all
Martin

I may squeeze another entry in. Just won the 1911 Vauxhall 'Prince Henry' on fleabay (originally a 1971 release).

I have completed another car, but noway are photos of it going anywhere. The Ford Escort moulds are so knack**ed that there were short-shots all over the place (more filler in the bodywork than most original 1970s Fords). The windows didn't fit at all either and the chassis is twisted so badly that the rear suspension mounts are on diferent planets - in general one to be avoided and that prompted an email to Airfix asking how they had the nerve to put it out today under the Airfix badge......
