Awan glad to meet another brave soul in the fight against the ghoul hordes. As to the scale, if you dont want to scratch it just make the vehicle fit the tool/weapon. What do you say Herman, Damian, JP, Adam, Mark, Justin, Steve, mgautreaux, and all those that I did not mention.

Robert

All I can add is go to it and get with it, Sprue stock can provide a lot of .50's-GECAL's, be back with 1/25 diamensions. (march 17 post)

Hokey-dokey, Full size measurements for the .50's are as follows; The Ma-duece (M-2) is 65" nose to tail , 2/3'ds barrel,1/3 receiver. The GAU 19/A comes to 54", the barrels (3) are 36" and the receiver/drive/loader (RDL) 21-22" inches long.(3' over overlap w/ barrels inserted). The RDL is 13.5" wide and 15" high. Check out the U-tube on this one . To wit, using just kit sprue w/ sanding and laminating, yer there. In 1/25, the M-2 would ABOUT 3.35-40" in length. Michael (the GAUsmyth)

Adam, I'll stick with my Army issue Bates, of which I'll have several pair in reserve. Remember, if they get goon blood on them they're potentially infectious.

GAB, love the whole direction you're going. The mesh windows are cool, but you may want to back them up with some drilled out plexiglass or it's equivilent because of the above mentioned reason.
Personally, My semi truck and it's accompanying scout car (71 CUDA') will sport armored windows with eye slits. When the end comes, zombies may not be the only enemy to deal with. I'm sure there will be some local gang warlords here and there that won't want to let go of their supplies and will be more than happy to liberate us from ours.

Hermon

hi hermon

are you going to be building a diorama or just stand alone vehicles? what about the rest of the crew dio's or stand alone?i'm going to build a 1/16th scale dio with an amphibious survivors grocery getter with a couple of survivors .

Hi Kevin, I'm planning a dio, nothing too fancy but my vehicle will be outside a concrete bunker about to head out to clear a path ahead of a foraging convoy.

I'm looking forward to this one a lot, it will be my first attempt a scratchbuilding anything.

Cheers, D

Ok you guys the talk here has made me do some thinking as to the build that I want to accomplish. I stated before that I will use the DML Hetzer with some Herman type wheels. Hey Herman what is your process in making those monster tires? I have since decided not to use the gun since there will be all of the support vehicles with nasty killing weapons needed. I think that I will go the way Kevinc spelled out (front runners/reconnaisance) LITTLE HELL BENT FOR INFO. vehicle to keep Kevinc company while foraging for food.

Got a sorta canonical question. I guess it doesn't matter all that much though. Are you guys subscribing to the "old" version of zombies (Night of the Living Dead through Sean of the Dead - slow moving, pretty mindless folks), or are you going with "new" zombies (Zombieland - sprinters that can climb)?

IMO, the zombies of Zombieland weren't actually zombies. They got infected with some form of madcow disease and then turned (not sure if they actually died or just the disease changed them and they were still alive). Don't get me wrong, I really liked the movie and am gonna add a box of Twinkies to my build in homage.

But I'm thinking I like the old zombies (that actually returned from the dead) better for my build. The difference would be that you'd need to beef up your fortifications to prevent the "new" zombies from getting in on you if you go with those. I was planning on using chain link fence on top of my armor, but the "new" guys could climb up that. I guess the propane torches would take care of them either way.

Anyway, I'm planning a slower moving armor vehicle to move to the central command location from way out here in West Texas. Tank tracks are fantastic for climbing over mobs of zombies. Won't gum up the wheels like an SUV or something. hehehe

John,
I think the general consensus - reading these posts - is, if it don't look right then kill it! And ask questions later...

Sounds good

Looking forward to this one! I think that the variety of scratchbuilding on this one is going to improve all of our builds.

I've got several coolers and some other weird equipment planned.

My Squadron mail order flyer came today and there is a Revell 1/24 1955 Ford F-100 listed for $12.76. When I visted their site online I could find the vehicle no where. Bummer, it looked like a sweet kit and ride for the campaign. If you have the flyer go to page 44 and view RM0880.

John, my plan is not to even show what creature is behind the End of Days Scenario. I want to keep it open and vague as to what caused the problem yet try to be clear that the subjects are coping with the end of society.

But on that note, I prefer slow moving zombies. I like them killable through headshots or massive trauma to their spinal column. I prefer biohazard causes over religious and magic sources. I prefer the zombiness to spread through bite/infection. I don't like zombie animals. I don't like brain eating zombies. I don't like zombies that retain living skills. I like my zombies as a mindless horde with no ulterior motives or grand plan. I do not like animated zombie parts (ie. hands) that continue to attack after being severed. And flame should only be used as a disposal tool.

Anyway, there's probably more.

Steve, what did the umbrella company do to you for you to mark them as the culprits having caused the zombie infestation world wide?

Steve I noticed that you changed you avataor to a more appropriate campaign eye catching skull and crossbones I like it. I just sent off for that 1955 Ford F-100 kit (1/24) what is going through my head at this moment smells like burning rubber. WOW!!! Too many ideas to play with on that frame, .50 over the cab, a cage of some kind on the bed, running boards for various attachments, windsheild covers to close up tightly and gun ports, Herman type monster wheels with chariot style scythes, a flamable fluid spraying nozzel under the rear (like in Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum) to light up all that is in pursuit of my little truck.

Well I need to open the windows and air out the house after all of that brain work.
