Hi guys.
A few of us have come up with an idea for a new scratchbuilding campaign after ACUTAR ends. The original idea was for vehicles relating to zombie attacks. I thought we could widen the campaign out into more areas by making it an all out post-apocolypse campaign. This would include wheeled and tracked vehicles, airplanes/jets, boats, fortresses, dio's, etc.
A few suggestions would be post nuclear world war, zombie infestation, alien invasion.....any kind of end of the world type stuff. I'd like to title this "End of Days Scratchbuild Campaign". If enough of you guys are interested I'll get something typed up soon and submit it for approval. The campaign wouldn't start for another 8 months so there would be plenty of time to think up something and scavange the needed materials.

So, any interest in this?

Mark me as "Interested". Check me for "Enlist".

I'd be in it.

I'm in, my first crack at serious scratch !! I have an M4 High Speed Tractor (Hobby Boss 1/35) that might fit the bill for a chassis and cab, then I'll hack off the back end and add a big cage and some firepower. The front end will need either a serious dozer blade or even a spiked mine-roller type boom to mulch the undead.

The mind is ticking over now, gotta go find a scrapbook and start jotting !!

Start in 8 months were the magic words for me. I haven't even cut a piece of plastic yet and I have had a blast in ACUTR campaign. Some of the guys and I were talking about Zombie fortifications (what else are you going to talk about when called in late on a Sunday night) and I always thought that a properly armed house boat was pretty secure so I guess I'll have to build me one. Just pull anchor and blast away.

again. Had a dig in the stash today and found 2 possible starting points. Ok you Scratchaholics, I will need your sage advice, do I go with a tracked chassis and cab or the big 'ol truck for the base of this beast ??

Then again, how about I merge the two and put that nasty quad as a caged turret on the M4 with ladder access from the cab ??

I can hear the Zombies moaning and see the gore flying already !!

OK guys, in less than 24 hours I count seven of us warped, twisted, sick thinking zombie killers for a campaign. Three more people and we should be ready to get the ball rolling.

Damian, the M4......Sooooooo many possibilities! That's just too friggin' cool my friend. And the gun truck would go right along with my possible entry. I want to build an armored up tractor trailer hauling a whoop-a** CJ-5 jeep on the back for emergency escort duty.

Remember guys, the idea here is just to have fun and build the wildest end of the world machines you can imagine. If you scratchbuild one gun or the whole darn vehicle it's totally cool.

This is fantastic - I was hoping someone would do a helicopter!

Damian, I like your idea of combining the two kits. Myself, I want to make some kind of bastardized half track. I some ideas on how to warp it into something more deranged.

The worst part is going to be waiting 8 months to start!

Thanks for the input guys, I'm leaning towards the M4 as a base and use the turret off the truck as a template to build up 1, or maybe 2 evil remote turrets up top. The design for a set of horizontal blades on a mine roller type frame out front is taking shape in my sick twisted head now, I'll put some stuff on paper then the hunt for material is ON !!

Jaypee, I knew we could count on at least one aircraft. This is getting better by the day!

Man, leave it to an Aussie to come up with something that cool. I hope you actually do decide to incorporate that into your build Damian. I wanna watch it progress........hmm....now that gives me a few ideas.

BTW, I count 8 now!

Justin, the Mustang on Death Race was totally bad a** ! Would be pretty easy to adapt a few 1/48 scale missles from aircraft kits onto it.

Which brings me to another thought. Would it not be cool if we had say......3 or 4 heavies ( as in big rigs, tracked vehicles, etc. ) and a bunch of smaller fast movers? Kind of like bombers going in on a mission with a fighter escort to keep the zombies away? Ohhhh......see crap like this keeps me up late at night thinking of ideas.

ha ha Omega Man on the telly, channel 5 in the UK just now. There is a heli at the start of that too.
It is the only way to evade zombie attack, as long as the fuel lasts out.
Couple of gun mounts on a Huey with a rat rod finish should do the trick. 1/72 will be too small to do this justice or get the point across, but I'm sure there will some cheap 1/48 or 1/32 small helis, OH-6 will pop up on ebay. Or if not a heli the italeri Hummv since it is inaccurate goes cheap too. (it's not that bad but know what people are like)

I don't have any spares in this scale so maybe some improvised weapons will be needed. nailguns or circular saw throwers, flame thrower for the hmmmv, and the like, anything to slice up that undead flesh, nad any rivet counters too. This will be awesome.

Hmmm does fire hurt zombies? Only one way to find out! BUUUURRRRNNN, mmm I smell bacon.

You could always pull off that scene in 28 weeks later with the helicopter!

A chopper hauling big net loads of zombies underneath to drop them into a burning pit would be pretty cool.

So, a quick "back to the subject of Campaign". Is this going to be a Sci-Fi campaign? Or, a Scratchbuilder campaign?
The Sci-Fi section has had a list of past campaigns. And, good ones, I might add, but, I think we all want to give the Scratchbuilders! bunch another solid to add to it's two past (one current) campaigns.

Just thinking a bit thicker here.

What if it had a giant bucket underneath with some kind of accelerant in it? Dump it on a crowd of zombies and drop flare - whoosh! Zombie flambe!

Cuhail: I think it should be in the scratchbuilders category myself, since it's going to involve at least a little bit of scratchbuilding to make anything suitable.

Well Murph, here is how I see it........

End of days could be any time period past, present or future. So, if someone wanted to build a hovercraft that would be OK by me as long as it fits the theme and has some scratchbuilt aspect to it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want this to be another scratchbuilding campaign......but it can include pretty much any darn thing you can think of including sci/fi, aircraft, boats, armor, anime, railroading (would really dig an EOD train!) as long as what everyone builds has at least SOME scratchbulding in or on it.

Is this OK with everybody here? I'm completely open to ideas so long as there is scratchbuilding involved. Chime in and add your opinions before I submit this sucker.

BTW, why isn't the ACUTR campaign listed on the campaigns page? The only way to access it is on the original ACUTR thread. It's like scratchbuilding doesn't have a dedicated page.......just sayin'
