HastyP is short for the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment. This was a Regiment my cousin served with in WW2. He used to tell me of some of his experiences when I was a kid. The Regiment was with the 1st Canadian Inf Div serving in Italy and NW Europe. Also was one of only a few Canadian units to set foot in France in 1940.

I take a lot of grief in the chat room for this name, (i.e. WeWillHold)---because I'm always being asked what I'm holding onto ----its the eternal question (lol).
Anyway, its a carry over from where I work. I do a lot of target shooting and own a number of weapons/ammunition etc. I always tell my coworkers if we ever get invaded by "Them", to come to my house, we'll pass out the weaponery and "We Will Hold"----at which point they look at me strangely and walk away

It seemed a good fit for a military site.

my other (and most expensive) hobby is cars, in my case, Ford Mustangs. I own a 1996 Mustang Cobra. After racing it at a track, one of my friends proclaimed "man, that is one baaaad pony". The bad pony part stuck around :-)

Mine is kind of simple. I love Tiger tanks and 101 is my badge number at work. Funny thing is now that I teach Emergency Medicine the 101 has taken on new meaning.

MLD are my initals
HOC was the Hulbert Outdoor Center where I was working when I first got online almost 10yrs ago now.
At the time MLD was taken as a screenname, as was MLD plus my birthday. MLDHOC was free at the time.

Mine comes from my mixed ancestry, American father, English, Cockney, mother. Long ago I was on the history channel's WWII board as halflimey but I lost my password. I had to recreate my name as halfyank. Now it's as much my name as Rodger.

For me, it was easy. Ever since I worked in a reasearch Physical Chemistry Lab as the Chemical Engineer, undergrads were always coming up to me with a need of answers. After this, 10 years within a Level 3 Bio-Tech facility and a welth of chemical and health/safety info under the belt, the term "See Dave...." became standard.
Hence, first letter of last and full first, you get "Cdave".
Just the thing you need for checmical, biological, Russian Armor and of course beer (where I work now!).

George S Patton - As a History Major I studied primarily American 20th Century History. Patton has always fascinated me. Brilliant and profane in one package. The George C Scott movie is still one of my favorites. So for me it was old, "Blood n' Guts."

As for the picture : this is the shield fotr the Province Limburg in Belgium where I live. But I guess you have to be Belgian to understand this. (Is it not Eagle?)

Based out of New England, I travel over 100,000 miles in the air every year - most of it for meetings with business partners and sometimes just to catch up with old friends. I'll also go to places on a whim - like the D-Day museum in New Orleans or the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia - hence great voyager, or GR8Voyager.
During the summer though, my main mode of voyage is my motorcycle - a beautiful BMW bike that still is fun to ride after all these years. If you happen to be in Massachusetts, NH or Maine and see a blue bimmer in your rear view mirror approaching quickly in the passing lane, flash your lights - it's probably me!

Mine requires a little bit of explanation too... "Mika" was deemed too difficult to pronounce / remember / whatever in school, so it was shortened to "Meeks" (As in I shall inherit the earth - so be nice to me!). My sense of humor is at times ... odd, so it was prepended with Mad at the same time. When the movie "Mad Max" came out, the spelling was altered, and it has remained "Mad Meex" for some 20+ years now.
