I am a police officer for Delhi Twp., the community in which I live. It's immediately west of Cincinnati. Currently assigned as the second shift supervisor, I'm in my 19th year. Only 7 more to go! Also in my 11th year as a Negotiator with the county SWAT team.

Seriously thinking about rejoining the Guard or Reserve to finish out my 20 for the Army...

I am a Police Officer with the Salisbury Police Dept. (N.C.) It's about 50 miles North/East of Charlotte, NC. I have 26 years in now. Only 4 more and I pull the pin. I spent 15 years on the Tactical Team as an entry man. I've done about every assignment on the job. Looking forward to retirement so I can spend all my time building models.

After 15 years in IT, mostly as a Systems Analyst and Network Administrator, left my job in Texas where I was Director of IT for a hospital, put my CISSP to use and am now an IT Security Auditor/Analyst for one of the Big 4 consulting firms in Florida.

My "fancy" title at work is Arena Operator, what it means is I drive a Zamboni Ice resurfacer for a living and also make Ice at the rink on our Military Base.

You are living the dream of every Canadian kid! I don't know anyone who doesn't want to drive a Zamboni. I'd love to go to GM Place and resurface the ice during a Canucks game!

Myself, I am a full-time student at a local post-secondary instituion. I am taking courses in history and political science.
I'm not sure what I want to be "when I grow up." :-) I'll probably end up teaching history. Or owning some sort of business.

8 years in the Army, and been working for a cable TV/telephony company in various jobs working for a subcontractor doing normal telephone line installs/ fibre optic work then getting a full time time job with them doing service calls and hi-speed internet installs for residental customers before moving on and looking after business equipment (CPE). job role got done away with and ended up looking after contractors carrying out business installs/upgrades&diversionary work. Since a merger with another cable TV firm my job role has been done away with again and I'm now a civils inspector looking after our network and assiocated mainholes and ductwork in the ground

I'm a GP here (but the website is out of date now). I'm also a GP trainer - helping junior docs get the postgraduate skills and qualifications they need to be a GP.

35 years as a graphic designer.
Bought my first Mac in 1990 and have never looked back.
Still miss the smell of my markers when I used to do comps by hand.
Those are resigned to the "the good old days' I guess but I still pull the caps off occasionally for a whiff ... reminds me of pulling all-nighters to hit a deadline!
However I do find digital design and photography to be very gratifying...instantly...hahaha!
Best regards,
Gary

I'm an executive VP for a Fortune 500 company overseeing outsourcing operations for the Airlines industry, have 500+ employees in 4 different countries with my main office in Juarez, Mexico. The job takes me a lot of places around the world (some good, some bad...most recent "bests" were Macchu Pichu and Corregidor). Been doing that for 2 years now, prior to that bounced around in IT as an MCSE Instructor, Certified Project Manager, and yes, even 3 years as a public school teacher for 8th grade US History. Building models allows for some order to come out of the chaos, if only RL were that simple.

This is really a great thread! It's very interesting to find out more about you all. It's interesting to see how broad a spectrum of people our hobby attracts!

As for me, I used to be a heavy diesel mechanic when I left the Marine Corps. Now I am a student at Kansas State University studying Agricultural Education, and minoring in Animal Sciences and Industry. My goal is to teach high school agriculture in Kansas. It's ironic as I didn't grow up on a farm. My granparents had a small one and I always loved everything to do with the farm. When I graduate I'd love to raise gamebirds and Buffalo.

I know those markers! Berol by any chance?
For me it's the smell of blanket cleaner for an offset press.
BTW, that stuff works really good at taking adhesive off of electrical tape to make weapon slings.

Lactol and Roller Wash #2 ... still have a couple of cans that I use. Lactol cleans out a airbrush slick as a whistle.
Great stuff. My printer had drums of the stuff and whenever I ran low I just took the empties to a press check and filled them up. :-) :-) :-)

Very interesting indeed!
For 27 years have been a Ceramic tile installer. Took 9 years off and worked for a local township at the Wastewater Plant..a job that was very interesting and boring at the same time..made my way to head mechanic at the plant. Needless to say, Im not one that likes punching clocks or being told what to do. Left the township job 5 years ago and started my own business up again... 4TA Tile Love the freedom of being my own boss...the work can be painful at times, I meet and speak with all types of people and find that to be the most enjoyable part. I'm also damn good at what I do... :-)

I have been a professional photographer since 1981. I have worked in the
private industry in both portrait and commercial photography.

In 1985, I had the opportunity of joining the City of Montreal Police Dept.
and since then have worked in their crime scene unit &
corporate affairs dept. as their photographer.

Cheers,
Joe
