Hello all..

Me I work in a lead smelter as a Blast Furnace Operator, alternating days on the furnace and in the feed control room. The company I work for is the largest single site battery maker in the U.S. (and family owned).

Its a difficult job but I like it.. I smelt down about 50 tons of lead a shift, mostly from recycled batteries and what we call plant scrap (the lead contaminated garbage from all the other battery manufacturing plants onsite.....

Five years active duty US Army, with 25 years after that in the Reserve. Since leaving active duty, I've been in a variety of engineering jobs with FoMoCo in Dearborn, MI, for the last 29 years, where I'm currently the Supervisor of a Computer Aided Design Section. (At least until the axe falls next month and THEN we'll see!!!)

I'm a J.O.A.T.M.O.N. in the IT field

Jack Of All Trades Master Of None

I am currently a Systems Analyst - I fix systems! From manual systems to computer systems. I fix'em with what works best. I don't discriminate, I employ paper based systems, computer systems, whatever works best for the situation.

I've been in IT since 1988 (man I'm gettin' up there). My primary focus has always been software development. I've always worked in small shops and I've done everything from pulling cable to system admin to dba to monkey.

My title is Service Coordinator, sort of like a social worker without the counselling, for the state's department of mental retardation. In 5 years I'll be a retired service coordinator. My degree was in education and history with a minor in English. Back then, a teacher couldn't buy a job. Along the way here I worked retail-electronics, then cameras and finally a national toy and hobby chain (when Monogram was putting in those really cool Shep Paine diorama folders.) There were also stints in insurance and filling vending machines/managing on lunch operation in a couple locations.

For the past 19 years I have been a Field Service Engineer (a glorified mechanic). I started out in the printed circuit board industry in 1987 and spent the next 14 years there over three companies. After being laid off just in time for Christmas 2001 (the industry really went bad after 9/11), I ended up in Medical and service and install bone density testing equipment and also MRI units since April Fools Day 2002. I still haven't figured out who was the bigger fool, them for hiring me or me for taking the job!!!!!

I am just about to start my first job after fully qualifying at university as a lecturer. I am going to be a Lecturer in History at a college in Cornwall. About time I did a real job :-) Though I do get 40 days off a year plus all the bank holidays

I'm a aystem analyst, programmer, database administrator and a senior manager in one the big telcos here (PLDT Co) . I've been working in this company for 15 years. I specialize mostly in fraud and revenue assurance systems...but now I'm venturing into system development for billing and network facing systems ....

I started as a telco fraud investigator back in 1991 until I ended up in the IT part of the business.

I have a Master's in Biochesmitry and Molecular Biology, and right now working for a PhD. And I haven't had a job in my life... It kind of drives me nuts.

My official title is Senior IT Project Manager but my job is really not that grandiose. I have been in the IT industry for about 15 years now and am currently employed by a major private health insurance company here in Aus.

I'm a creative director in an advertising agency.
i.e. A graphic designer and conceptualiser.

I was trained in the days when a graphic designer had to be able to draw and paint to at least a rasonable standard. But those days seem to have gone.
Out of the creative staff of 20, only two of us can actually illustrate.

Cheers

Hi

Currently my title is "Application Specialist".

No not for the New Zealand SAS but in the Support Department of a boutique Software Company.

I am second level support person for a highly specialised time and cost recording software tool designed for the legal and accounting profession.

Previously well thats a small book in itself but suffice to say that I do have a rich tapestry of work experience.

Regards

I used to work as a Medical Laboratory Tech until about 3 years ago. I worked for about 22 years at it, the last 16 years on the graveyard shift (by choice) and loved it. I've had 3 heart attack since I was 35 (I'm now 48) and had to retire and go on disability.
Modeling keeps me off the streets at nite! :-) Mind you, I find that since I retired, I've been busier than when I was working.

Can't wait for it to be over.

I work mainly in industrial and commercial settings.

Freelance Musician. Wide variety of assignments, started as army musician, now playing bassoon professionally. Most recently just completed a season Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. Can probably recite the entire opera from memory... modeling keeps me sane, since most of my musician colleagues are half crazy.
I interchange my modeling tools with my reed-making tools, there are a lot of similar skills required.
