After my chemistry studies ( not finished ) and lab technician studies ( again not finished ) I ended up in several warehouses and storage facilities as an order picker/ forklift truck driver.

After a short career as a garbage man ( best job in the world, believe me ) I am currently employed as an industrial cleaner in a big flour factory.

I was a professional soldier for more than 15 years, then separated during the post-Gulf War drawdown. I then became a full-time student and part-time laborer, cab driver, fry cook, stage hand, freelance writer, freelance photographer, college newspaper editor, etc. After graduating with honors with a degree in journalism, I became a correctional officer (prison guard). After four years on that gig, I was offered my former boss' job at Fort Leavenworth. I am now the post newspaper editor and internal information officer.Back working for the U.S. Army -- for almost 25 of the 30 years since I originaly enlisted.

I'm 23 and have my degree in Communications with Digital Media (2005). Got out of college and lack of interest/lack of jobs in my field meant I had to figure something out. After taking a little time off, I went back to school for my degree in Medical Technology and will become a med tech in a couple years!

Meanwhile, I'm delivering pizzas.

I was happily reading through all the threads here until this caught my eye and then my heart sank! THEY AXED IT???????? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that show so much!!! Please tell me they completed the entire 10th season at least!

My career wise...completed my masters in wireless networks and jumped around a few companies before ending up as a configuration analyst for Vodafone. Been in love with this job ever since. Only just pass 1 year with this firm not too long ago.

Was in the military before that for about 2.5 years as a combat engineer.

Well another IT person here. When I was about 8 or 9 I started delivering catalogues. Then I moved up in the world to a paper route. Shortly after I turned 12 or so I got a job in my uncles Greenhouse. Now that is the place where you learn the value of a dollar (atleast for dutch people ) After roughly 9 years, I decided to work in a big box bookstore while taking Computer science at University. After graduating I got my current gig at a software company that makes software for Funeral Homes and Cemeteries. Get to talk to all sorts.

Worst job would be a toss up between greenhouse work and Tech Support. I dont know what more painful, people who dont know what a computer is but have software or back breaking labor :-)

Im a "roadie". For the last 15 years Ive concentrated on the lighting side of things, hence the callsign. I maintain the lighting rigs on concert tours, mainly europe but Ive also worked in the states, south america, south africa, and aisa.
I tend to tour for about 8 months a year and spend the rest of the time sleeping and building model aircraft in 1:72 scale

My "fancy" title at work is Arena Operator, what it means is I drive a Zamboni Ice resurfacer for a living and also make Ice at the rink on our Military Base. Before that I was a Combat Engineer for 21 years until I got a Med release in 2001 due to knees and hearing.

Interesting thread, pretty neat to see what folks do for a living.

The short answer: I'm an active duty (AGR) Supply Sergeant in the Missouri Army National Guard.

Long answer: In my 19th year of military service. I have been doing logistics (supply) since March 31st 2001. Before that I was a Combat Engineer (9 years) and a engineer equipment operator (4 years).

27 years in the Magistrates Courts service (Department of Justice & Attorney-General) in Queensland. Gone from stamp licker through to Clerk of the Court (or Registrar) recently had my position re-named to Principal Registrar. Along the way did 7 years in the Army Reserve and had to give that away when I started my law degree. 7 years to finish that and now I have been an acting magistrate for 10 years.

Just taken a transfer closer to Brisbane (our capital) where I hope to get more bench time and hopefully be noticed by those who make permanent judicial appointments. I leave here in about 3 weeks so my model room is close to being all packed up.

so the short answer is: I am one of the most hated professions - a lawyer - and even worse one that sits on the bench and sends people to jail.

Working at the Dutch police at the Regional Service and Information Centre. Operating the "normal" police calls as well as the 112 emergency phoneline. (112 is the Dutch equivalent of 911 in the US).
Hope to become police dispatcher in a few years from now.
At your service!

PS:
During night shifts Armorama beats night TV by far!!!!! :-)

i'm an architect for almost 28 years! wow..how time flies. i used to work as a designer for an interior/achitectural planning firm ..steven j. leach and asso. (houston) oh yeah they have office here in the phils. worked with them for almost 3 years..then 1985..as plant supervisor in our family motorshop company. once in a while i got projects outside the company..mostly designing and doing planning/renovations. i'm fond of wood and steel works. i haven't tried carpentry and metalcrafting..but i know a good work when i see one and i sure do like to try 'em sometime..besides plastic modelling.

My current title is "Technical Analyst", which is fancy way of saying I get paid for being a geek. Currently I architect and support RSA ClearTrust and Microsoft BizTalk Server (along with MSMQ and IBM WebSphere MQ) at a medium sized retailer's home office.
In the past 18 years I've run the gamut of IT work, from mainframe computer operator to helpdesk to mainframe programmer to IT security to NetWare administration to PC/MS Windows desktop/laptop support, to client/server software support and development, html development, back to NetWare support, then to Windows Server support, finally moving over to Middleware architecture, where I am now. Whew, my English teacher would turn over in her grave is she saw that sentence And I'm sure I missed something along the way, but that's been about my career.

Now I just keep my head down, do the best work I can, and try to avoid the outsourcing monster. And blow off work stress with modeling, of course!

Firefighter/Paramedic here. Been in the field and running calls for 17 years now. Time does fly. Our department provides medical/fire coverage for HMA (Honda Manufacturing of Alabama). I'm a supervisor over the guys on my shift at the plant.

I am an instructor for all prehospital courses: CPR, EVOC, ACLS, BTLS, and PALS. Did a short stint as a SWAT medic as well.
