Hi Jean-Luc

That does sound fun - but I'll be away this weekend. The open horizons might make it easier for the likes of me to actually spot other aircraft!

Great idea! But there're 2 bases for the allies and 1 for the axis... I think with the number of players we have... we might want to keep the islands closer to the mainland?

Nothing special but it has a some in-game voice communication so that you get a pic how it sounds heh
The quality of in-game sound is really poor...

Hey Rudy!
Nice video, thanks! I just watched that movie last night. Great stuff.

Hey, I bet you didn't know that you could buy models from the movie. For copy right issues, they're named something else, but you'll recognize them. Here are a few that I found for you to check out. Any questions, feel free to ask. You gotta scroll around the page to find them. The bottom page has two. One is 54mm, the other is a nice big bust, I think 200mm.

These are just a few, they're figures so they're not hard to build, the fun part would be painting them. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Cool stuff!

Hi again

Well that's a b*mmer! I have to turn my firewall off in order to connect with the game and I got hit with two trojans!

Hopefully it was just bad luck - I haven't had this trouble on previous weeks. I'm away tomorrow, so I'll try again next week. I was doing better though - I did see two other aircraft (fleetingly...)! :-) :-)

All the best

Hi all!

I have mixed feelings about the "Malta" scenario...

The good point is that you have to act more carefully and have time to elaborate tactics and teamwork. Yesterday, it was the first time I flew in "formation" making a "Rotte" with Emeritus.

Bad point is the distance between the red and blue bases. Flying 10mn to get shot down by heavy AA fire is frustrating! Maybe there is a way to reduce the AA fire by changing the settings...

Shall we try it again or return to our mountains?

I like the open spaces of the Finnish gulf map, but the distances are little too vast, I think. On the other hand, I don't like the mountain map that much when flying with icons off. The planes all but disappear against the mountains. We could sometimes try the Crimean map. On the north-east corner is an ideal place for a Malta scenario. There's a largish island with an airfield and a couple of airfields on the mainlaind. The distances are much shorter than on the Finnish gulf map.

Hi all!

Server is closed now... I had to quit. Sorry!

Eetu, we should design a custom map... but I don't know how to do that... I'll try to work that out.

See you later!

Here's the map I was talking about:
The axis airfield is a little bit east of Kerch and the allied base just over the canal.

Bah!

Sorry I didn't make it back. I got to the bank and forgot the deposit slip. I had to recount everything and make out all the forms, then get back in line again and wait... and wait. When I got home, the wifey left a message on the answering machine that required me to look up some information for her about her car.

Hopefully next time can hang longer. I had fun while I was there.

I think the Black sea map is the way to go. Agree about the malta scenario ( I did get 3 kills though ) and the mountains. We need something relatively flat with not too great a distance between enemy bases. More platers would be great also, easier to see someone when there are more flying.

Hi all!

Mal, in fact, you didn't leave us a chance today! Did you eat lion?

I will try to design a custom map... even if I don't know how this works by now. I only know how to select the maps designed for online playing, but I will try to upload the map you mentionned the next time Eetu.

I briefly joined another arena and noticed the map was "customized" and had a briefing message. It would be nice if we could do that too. I also will try to find a micro to use Voice Com as it would make things easier while in the game... it should be worth a try.

What about enabling icones again to identify the ennemy? The vision in a computer game is not as precise as in real life and identifying small points is rather difficult! Maybe I can change the settings so that icones are visible only within firing range (1000m). I will also try to find a way to reduce the power of AA fire without disabling them. It's too bad to be hit by AA fire without getting the chance to drop a single bomb after flying 20mn over the ocean! The problem is that you are often alone on target and all AA guns are firing at you!

Let me know what you think...

I personally like it without icons, he who sees first has the advantage, but Icons on at 1000m would be good, if that is achievable. I have been flying in the full difficulty server and honing my skills They have a custom map and I flew on another scenario yesterday which was different, but I don't know if it was custom. I would think it should be possible to "build" the map via the game CD and transfer it to a server?
I have changed my mind a bit over whether or not we should choose sides before entering the game, as Philip suggested. Between the regulars it might be a good idea, like a football team getting to know how each others mind works on the pitch. We should look at getting bomber pilots and fighter pilots for each side.
Anyway looking forward to more killing, just need a Spitfire and you won't stand a chance

Hi Mal!

I'm with you on the bomber/fighter thing! For myself I prefer making bombing runs rather than dogfighting wich is not my "cup of tea"... I made an attack in a Stuka with diving Flaps opened! Woawwww! Impressive! You can even hear the typical sound of the siren! The tactical aspect of the game is given not enough importance in my opinion. It would be cool to have a heavy formation of bombers, with a small escort and fighter taking off to intercept them...
For the Spitfire... well I think the hurricane is already good enough for you!

About icones... if I manage to make them appear only within 1000 m it would not harm the "hunting" aspect of the game as they would only appear once the opponent is already sighted. It would just prevent Emeritus to shoot at me thinking I was you! :-)

I'm talking but I don't know if there is a way to do all we plan to do! Anyway, we should start an aggressive recruitment campaign within Armorama to have more regular players!

Hi all!

I managed to make small changes in the game. I know now how to change the daytime so we can now play from dusk till dawn... and even doing nightfighting if we want!
I also set icones to 1000m. This way, when at fire range, you can identify the plane you are attacking!
I still think AA fire is too strong... I will try to change that too (if it is possible) and maybe work on a custom map...
But we definitely need more players! Where are you Easyoff, Kancelot, Jurjen, Umustb, Merlin, Procrazzy etc... you schould do flight training as Holdfast and Emeritus are becoming real aces!!! By the way, did you noticed the changes I made Eetu and Mal? What do you think about it? Way to go or not?

See you on the Saturday session maybe!

Hi Jean-Luc

I'm afraid I'll rarely be able to make the Friday sessions - I'm just not home from work in time. I'll try to look in for a while today, but I've got a pile of work to do this weekend, so I might not be able to play for very long.

All the best

Definitely way to go! I think the settings are now pretty much spot on. Changing the time really creates an athmosphere (is that correctly spelled?). The icon settings are really good now. They keep you scanning the skies and at the same time prevent friendly-fire accidents.

I've been in bed most of the week. I've been having a bad week health wise. I log on here, read some, go back to bed after I answer a few emails. Right now its 5:34 a.m. on Sat, I've been up for two hours. I'm hoping on going back to bed once the wife leaves for work. There's no sense going back to bed if she's going to make noise getting ready for work, shower, hair dryer, letting the dogs in and out, breakfast dishes clanging etc. We have a model show on Sunday, we, being my club. I don't think that I can make it. I'm pretty weak popping in and out of fever.

Hi all!

It's not a problem if someone can't make it for a session... it's just cool when you are all there!

I'll start a session this afternoon with the same map... and will try to make some more bomb runs or Stuka missions... still didn't managed to hit those AA tanks with a dive attack... maybe I will try to drop some bombs on the industrial area of the ennemy... if Mal let's me... and if Eetu do the escort again!

Anyway, I will do some tests while in the game so, if the weather is changing, don't be to surprised... and don't forget to use Axis planes only for Blue side and Allied planes for Red side! Early planes would be cool too as the only bombers available are from 1939-1941... but that's up to you to decide...

See you all in the sky!

Jean-Luc
