My start pics....

A few little extra bits, mainly some foil to be added for the hole filled rusted areas.

Now just off to strip all this nasty chrome plate!

More soon.

Paul: Nice Ford that should look superb when rusted up, mind and not leave your chrome in the oven cleaner for too long.
Todd: Nice choice with the Chevy my friend, that should look equally as good.
Look forward to both your build progress.
James thanks for the help with the Gallery link.

Hi,

I've got a question regarding what is allowed to take part at the campaign and what isn't.

Right now I am taking part at three campaign in parallel - simply too much good ideas out there...

I am building a Ford F350 Duallie, but this will take part at the "extreme trucks" campaign - it will be a replacement for my current zombie hunter Chevy Escalade. A little bit worn off, but not really a rustbucket...

So I would like to add something smaller to this campaign, maybe one of these small figures (1:35 scale) in a appropriate Scenario (I love dioramas!)...

These figures are traded assembled and painted, but of course this will be changed...

Peter, you as campaign lead, can you accept this idea?

Cheers
Thomas

Hi Thomas
I would think to accept any completed (although they will be changed)models would be against the rules. If the diorama you were building to put them in was substantial say a rusty factory or something like that with the figures playing a minor part then I would say yes. But I would need to see your plan.

Thanks Pete

Dechromed!! the odd spot still on there but hey whats perfect?

Now I just need to decide if I am going to leave the bonnet on or not( leaning towards leaving it off at the moment) and how to remove the floor of the cargo bed without destroying the frame in the process.

The engine looking a bit sparse as I striped various bits off to apear a little more abandoned.

Black hashed areas will either be removed or replaced with thin foil to replicate rusted holes and edges etc.

I have removed a section of the front of the right fender as damage just need to thin it down to make it look better.

Hej Paul

Could I persuade you to make a "stripping chrome parts for dummies " description. ?
I'm about to make the exact same car and what to strip it too. However, I'm more into AFV's so I have no experience with this process.

Thanks

Kenneth,

I'd love to but to be honest I found a video on youtube....

It rambles on a little and you do have to experiment a little but it works a treat.

Kenneth you can strip the chrome off your parts with oven cleaner too, but be very careful not to leave it in the cleaner too long, or it will melt the parts. Basically place it in a sealable bag with the oven cleaner for a short while (times vary so as I say be careful) until the chrome is gone. Wash with soapy water and your done.

Here are the pictures of what I will be building for this campaign. I will upload the plastic shortly.

I visited this vlllage in France this year, and found the inspiration for this build there.

Hi Pete. I like the setting.
I'm starting with the base for a small dio this afternoon. Still no kit arrived. Had some beautifull days in the old archive of my father. Lots of magazines to read with nice rusty crap.

Look forward to your build Robert.

Hi scrap & rusty builders.
Finally my parcel with the BIG puzzle is coming.
I got a preview this morning of its contents. It will be a hell of a job. All paint and other stuff to wreck it is in da house.
This weekend the game begins.

Look forward to it Robert....don't wreck it too much lol.

It has been a little quiet on this thread recently, I know most of you will have other builds on the go, but feel free to give your ideas for your builds.
Looking forward to everyone's projects.
Cheers

I'll kick off with a big box of scrap. I've got a copy of the manual and that's it. A big cleaning up to do this weekend on the parts.
It's incomplete, parts are broken and many more things you normally not accept recieving a kit. But for me this will be the biggist challenge so far.
More posts and pics will follow this weekend.

Regards,
There's one thing I must admit. It's BIG. First time working in this scale, BIG fun.

Hi Robert
It's like christmas opening boxes from the postman, and that looks a challenge in that box my friend. What scale is it? And what is the model of car?
Look forward to your next post.

Hi Pete. The scale is 1:8. It's a Citroėn TA15 Big Six.
Like going into the dark. I already made some little progress. Sanding the doors and fixing some brass to replace broken parts.
It was a total surprice to me the way it came in the box. Took me one day to figure out what is what. No engine, no roof.
Roof will be scratchbuild. Engine is out.
Maybe later today I make some pics.
Back to work.

Progress.
It took some time, but the Lady is coming together.
I started with the cooler & Grille. Did some study on color and my tools. All is in da house.
Pictures.

Kit is incomplete. Some parts were already glued together. I cleaned and stripped some, had to make new parts.

Grille.

It's a TA15 Big Six.

First layer of paint, mixed wet with pigments. Conditioned with a clear laquer, very thin.

More pigments and rubbing with graphite. All close after the first spray of clear laquer.

Focus on the grille tonight.

Robert Jan
