About ready to head off to the paint shop for pre-shading on the 1/48 Hasegawa Ki43:
I may actually move to the P-40 at this point and get it to where I can pre-shade both models at the same time. We'll see what mood I'm in when I actually sit down to model next time, which will hopefully be soon.
How's everyone else doing?

Here is my completed kit of the Otaki Bf 109 G6. Their idf loop is nuts and decided not to place it on the kit. Some planes did not have this dorsal attachment. The place represents JG 5 pilot I believe was Wiessnthall could be wrong. Misplaced the information for the pilot. My build was in conjunction with the P-47. Due hope that my companion is able to finish his build. Enjoy. Have enjoyed the models depicted here.

Don't worry, Michael. There will come some photos soon. I was on an expo in Augsburg last weekend and had no time to take pictures. But probably this weekend ....

Trevor, looks nice although the pictures are a little blurry. Do you have clearer ones?
I have this kit in my stash. How does it go together? Any things to be aware of?

And now, the P-40 cockpit:
This is box stock, I have one of the first releases with the etched seat belts from Dragon (which are not quite up to Eduard standard but came with the kit!) I freely admit I also used the instrument panel decals. So sue me!

Michael, I really like your Hayabusa. Though the real aircraft was weak, as a model it looks great. And enjoy your P-40. The Hasegawa kit is simply wonderful. But you better keep the canopy closed. That's the only weak part of the kit.
Well, I have uploaded my share to the gallery. If you like to see more photos and learn some really interesting facts about the pilots, visit my Assembly Line thread over at Aeroscale (on page 3).
This is good bye from me to this campaign. It was a pleasure for me to take part but we soon meet again at the Nightfighter Campaign, Michael.
Happy modelling!

Howdy Y'all
Torsten-I enjoyed watching your build. That's a fine looking pair.
Here's my progress so. I've finished the MTB and E-Boat and am now working on the display base. I'm using aluminum foil painted with artist acrylic for the water. I'll put some 'Mod Podge' on it for a 'wet & shiny' look.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Nice work so far Don!
Some progress on the Hasegawa 1/48 P-40E:
The wing to fuselage was pretty good except for the gaps at the roots. Luckily there wasn't enough dihedral, so a length of tape and problem solved!
The fuselage has a couple of inserts per side, one for the tail and one for the area around the back windows. I chose to put them together as entire halves first, then put the halves together (not the way the instructions show). Thus I avoided gaps around the inserts which would have been harder to deal with but ended up with a doozy on the top where the window inserts attached. Surprise! Not.
Underneath, all is well:
More as I have time to take away from work and the bathroom remodel!

Nice work by all concerned.
Sorry no progress to report on the MTB Vs EBoat, but lots of work going on on the house, hope to be back on it within a couple of weeks.

Sven,
Oh no! I thought when I didn't hear back from you a while ago that our duel was dead, so I started on a P-40 vs Ki43 build. The Ki43 is done an the P-40 is about ready for paint. Even though you would still get a ribbon if I screw up, I don't want to be unfair to you. I've made a sort of desultory start on the Centurion, lets see if I can really get going on it.

OK, well with Sven's report that he's on track with his Syrian T-55, I've suspended work on the P-40 to get back to the Israeli Centurion. So, here's where I started earlier this year:
Here's where I left off a few months ago:
And here's where I am now:
I'm a little nervous about those side shield brackets, they're just butt joined on there. We'll see how that goes.
I'm not normally an armor builder, I usually do wingey-thingies. So while the actual construction is going fairly quickly I'm a bit concerned about what'll happen when the painting/weathering starts. I may be asking for advice then! Can I get this done by the end of the year? Stay tuned...

I've spent a fair bit of time contemplating the SPAD's slightly complicated struttery, and come to the conclusion that it's best to glue the struts in place on the bottom wing, then tweak them to fit the top once the glue is try. Special Hobby wants me to make the short connecting strut which holds the inboard struts together from a piece of wire. I'm going to see whether a piece of stretched sprue works better.
Now that the model is at this stage, I'll do the majority of the paintwork, leaving only the touching up to do after the upper wing goes on and the rigging gets done.

Hi Guys,
Ongoing delays with work on the house mean my workshop is still full of Boxes, and will be for at least another week, so regtretably I will be nowhere near finished by the end of year.
some great models on here well done all.

Ha! I have opened the box and started to get paint on things! Here's my starting photo (I used a July catalog that I had laying around for the date reference. It should definitely prove that I didn't start before January 1, 2012. )
I'm juggling an armor campaign with this airplane build, but they're getting along nicely on the workbench. I'm looking forward to over a week off work at the end of the month to make great headway. The kit itself is crisply molded and detailed. It's 1/72, so the part count isn't outrageous, and painting the bare metal finish is my only concern.
Cheers! ...Oh, and I hope to catch Jesper's FW190 from out of the sun soon enough!

Ok, it's been several months since I have had a chance to do any modeling, real life has thrown me a real curve ball this year including the birth 6 weeks ago of a baby boy (Darcy). Now I have about 2 weeks to go in the Campaign and I really want to give it my best shot. Now where is my dastardly foe Luciano, and his Seafire ?
Stay tuned for a scary speed build.
Cheers, D
