Foredeck fittings almost finished,

From the photographs of the boats I cannot see any visible lashings for the Carley Float, so I havent included any, One strange omission from the etch and the instructions is fixings for the anchor, these are clearly visible on pics, so the final job there will be a bit of work with some strip and rod.

A bit more progress, I have started work on the rudder assembly. The boat has three rudders, one astern of each prop, above each rudder is a cavitation plate, each cavitation plate is made from three etched parts, the plate itself and 2 brackets, the rudders are white metal, and brass rod is provided for the shafts. The shafts are not yet cut to length, I will go that after I have sprayed them.

Nice job Paul, and well done fo finishing.

A bit more progress, the rudders and cavitation plates have been fitted to the stern of the mtb, just needs mast, rigging and a couple of finishing touches, meantime I have started the s-boat, below pick gives an idea of the size difference of the two vessels.

The Albatros now has a complete fuselage and the basic colours are on. I'm hoping that the red will be just transparent enough for them to show through slightly.

The Albatros is looking good Jessie,

A bit of fine weather on Sunday allowed me to get the airbrush out, so the deck on the e boat has been masked and the hull sprayed.

Sven: I'm still on board, but I thought it was the other way 'round, I was doing the Centurion and you're doing the T-55. Did I get mixed up?

Great work everyone!

The Albatros is looking like an airplane now : )

Upper wing ballanced on the cabane struts.

I need to clean up the blue overspray from the underside and remove the ailerons to get the cutouts done properly.

The fuselage is nearly ready to become red.

I need to figure out how to mask that engine without spoiling the red. The tolerances over the intake manifold are very tight, so tight that I don't know how to get any masking material in there. We'll have to see how it works out.

More progress on the S-Boat.

The rear ends of the torpedo tubes have been added and detail painting started. The foredeck, along with it's gun tub have been fitted.

Work on the upper bridge has commenced, still needs decals & and some detail painting.

this was then test fitted with the armoured wheelhouse shell.

Red airplane is red.

Rolling up the etched cooling jackets and gluing on the tiny parts was extremely nerve-wracking.

Simon, that planking is awesome!
Jessica, it's good to see that the red airplane is red, but the engine is not!

...is Jesper still watching out for that P-51? When you least expect it, expect it! (ha ha, giving an evil mustache twirl.)

Et maintenant, après beaucoup de travail dans l'Usine SPAD*...

Lots of fit problems with those upper deck pieces. It's going to take quite a bit of work to sort them out..

*And now, after lots of work in the SPAD Factory...

Albatros looking great Jessica, good luck with cockpit coaming on the spad.

Thanks Sean, a simple bit of drybushing with citadel bleached bone, gives a nice uneaven worn look.

More progress on the s boat, the bridge has been painted and fitted, would note there is an error in decal placement the instructions, it shows decal 5 in the centre position on the bridge consol, rather than 3, which appears to be the correct one.

My original plan was to go with a Liberator to go with my completed Oscar, but with starting the miniature figure business, 2 kids on holiday...blah I hate real life getting in the way of modelling. So I had to go with something cheaper. I found this new tooled Airfix Hawk to go with my Oscar. I have always loved the Hawk family. Kittyhawks, Hawks, Warhawks. They are ugly in a beautiful kind of way. This puppy was 7.99 Canadian. Less than 10.00 for a kit that is new tooled and doesn't suck. I love Airfix.

The fuse goes together without the cockpit. I was shocked! I have seen this idea before but never on a 1/72 kit and it worked out pretty well. The fuse fit is good to excellent and some sanding with no filler needed smoothed it out.

The cockpit attacked to the lower wing is fixed in place. Overall it fitted pretty well, but I had one worry about how the wings would fit.

Oh snap. There goes the wings. They fit everywhere except at the fuselage. So there will be sanding and filling needed there. Overall...not bad and for 7.99 damn excellent, but its a pity the wings were not a tighter fit.

Try to get back to it tomorrow. Propeller is meant to go on but I want to paint them off the plane. tail is next up.
