Hi Don. Is this the pic you are trying to post here? I think you might be just copying the wrong link from your gallery. You don't want the Linked Thumbnail. You need to click on the small square icon to the right of the Linked Thumbnail, then copy the next link that pops up beneath it.

Hi All,
Thanks Micheal, I'll get a Camel kit in the next couple of weeks to add to the Dr I.
This is the Eduard kit that I'll be using, think I'll do both the Dr I's in different schemes.

NIce Tom !
I'm building that Eduard "Green Heart" FW190 too !
Which option will you be doing ?
I'm thinking Max Stotz, 5./JG 54, Russia, Spring, 1943. (Option B)
Cheers
Paul
Thanks Paul. I like the Stotz scheme as well, but was thinking of doing either the Nowotny sheme or the Rudorffer version as they were two of the leading La-5/7 aces while flying the Fw190.

Howdy Tom,
What do you think of the La-5 kit?

I haven't started building it yet, but so far I like what I see. Very highly detailed and appears to be a complex build which will push me to improve some of my skills. I'm not sure about the decal sheet, but several reviews I've found on the web tell me that it should work out just fine. I'm really looking forward to building this one, and I've got the La-5FN in the stash as well.

Got some work done on the Wingnut Wings Albatros DV. I painted the wood parts with Tamiya Dark Yellow, then used the sponge method and some oils to do the grain, then coated it all with Tamiya clear yellow for varnish:

I painted clear orange on the structural members molded to the inside of the fuselage to give them a little contrast. The unfinished areas in the engine compartment will be painted to represent metal panels.
The gray stripes are where the bulkheads will go. I've built a couple of Wingnuts kits before and the fit is so precise that paint will throw things off, so I masked those areas off before I painted! Some of the masking is still present in the nose since I will (as noted above) be doing more painting there.

I have started my FW 190 for this campaign. My oppornent is Sean (Windysean) with a Mustang.
I am building the old Fujimi kit. Not a bad kit for its age, although I will use some Eduard parts to spice it up. I have not decided on the camo and markings yet, but I plan to load it up with bombs and take out Sean on the ground.
More to follow.

Hey guys!
I see some nice duel options!
I am very busy moving (bought a house) and got little time for modeling now...
My contribution to this campaign is a Lavochkin La-7 from eduard
.
i bought the following upgrades;
- a goffy cockpit and weapons bay set
- true detail weighted wheels.
- eduard wing flaps.
for info i got the book from yefim gordon ''lavochkin piston engine fighters''
Now it got very interesting and got sucked into the lavochkin series. I always wanted to build a ''series'' of russian aircraft. First i thought of building the yak series, but no good kit was available (except the eduard yak 3).
So i bought the zvezda la-5 serie and a icm lagg-3
I bought four(!) zvezda kits... If i combine the front of the La-5 and the rear (from the cockpit) La-5 FN, i got a La-5 F
also got some new book about the La-5 and La-7 in detail described
Regards,
Remco

Ha! You've got a head start on me-- you may well catch me on the ground yet! I guess I'd better buy my kit! I'm leaning toward the Tamiya 1/72 P-51D (#60749), a fine shining machine. Has anyone around here built that one? I'm assuming Tamiya makes decent airplane kits, based on their armor. By my plan, I'm also taking the plunge into natural metal for the first time.
Of course, as I said, it's only a plan, because I don't have the kit yet, but there's a lot of time left in the year.
cheers!
-Sean.

Howdy Paul
I have seen your kit on the shelf by my hobbyshop (not very local if you have to drive 25 miles
) Its a very nice kit! are you making two airplanes or just one. I got the Yak-3 in a dual combo set
Its strange if i compare the zvezda La-5 FN with the eduard kit, and came to the conclusion that the gavia (thats the original designer of the La-7 kit of eduard) kit has less detail...
Also the zvezda kit is much cheaper than the eduard, and has a great interior
I think of going to make the zvezda kit a hyper detail model... It has a good starting point.
The La-7 is going to have less detail becouse the basemodel is a bit ''thick'' moled and has more work to make a simple rivet patern on its metal plates
O, and i am a nut thats suffers from the advanced modelers syndrome, better known as AMS
Regards and happy modeling guys (and girls)

I will be doing either Zero/Seafire or Hurricane/BF110. I have a trip planned to my LHS to see what they have in stock.

With what I have observed there are some promising projects started. I teamed up with Pedro who is building the P-47. Here are the starting photos of my project. I have proceeded a tad farther than the pics show. Decals are on, wash waiting to be sealed. I have used the Otaki kit with a few embellishments. Ultracast seat, wheels and a Fusion spinner. These are the most glaring deficiencies of the kit. The plane depicted is one flown by Theo Wiessenberger while with 7/JG 5 with 111 victories depicted on the tail.

Jessie,
You originally signed up for the SPAD VII vs Albatros D.III but I noticed you suddenly did reviews on AeroScale of the Tamiya Bf 109E-3 and Spitfire I. Do I smell a change of focus?

No, those were just to get reviews of those two kits up on the site where they've been sadly lacking. I'm still in Great War mode for this campaign

That is what I was thinking! It was almost spooky to see these reviewws as I bought both kits (spit and Emil) just about 2 weeks ago . As you see, I still haven't made up my mind about whast I will be entering with.

Good on you Jessie! I'm still hammering away on my Wingnut Albatros D.V, here's where I am so far:

Hard to get a camera in there. Typical Wingnut kit, if you're very careful, it looks great! Rigging the control lines don't make it easier, but it's a neat effect.

This kit is another tough one. Its my second Fine Molds and niether were any good. The first was for the Zesteror campaign. Though that 410 I read was a repack. This Oscar is interesting in concept. A 1/48 that builds like a 1/72. It sounds like a great idea in many ways. Not many pieces and a simplified construction for a quick build. I think thats a cracker of a idea. Don't get me wrong I think the 48's like Eduards 190 with all the engine detail etc is great, but sometimes a quick build is cool as well. The problem here is that it just doesn't fit. Cockpit doesn't fit, wing roots don't fit, underside front massive gap. I think I have spent the same time sanding and filling as I would have spent building a more complex kit. FINE MOLDS the finest kits availble if you don't compare them to any other companies.
Now I could be unlucky. These could be older kits. I always hated Revell, but I only ever made their own stuff and the new molded kits are getting great reviews. Look at Airfix. The Ju-88 is a nightmare of a kit, but I have put together their newer Mig-15, Spitfire IX and Hurricane IIc and they are great builds. So maybe some of FM stuff is awesome.
I really want a good Oscar on my shelf, but this kit won't be it. Might try a 1/32 Hase for that. I am going to go with a bright blue camo that was used on the OScar and I plan to hide some of the stuff with weathering.
The detail on the kit itself isn't to bad, though a little faint in the panel lines, but its not bad really. The fit is where it is letting itself down.
