I was watching a horribly scripted "reality show" on Discovery and had an epiphany about what to do with my halftrack. So all you landlubbers are out racing across the crumbling transportation network in your customized vehicles, fighting the horde and breaking hearts all the way. But wait a tick...what's this...CHECK ENGINE light? So Brown Sugar is reborn as a post apocalyptic wrecker.

My boat is still my primary project right now. I figure it'll be done pretty quickly so I might turn my attention back to the halftrack concept.

...."a Horribly scripted reality show"...you mean there are some that aren't?!
If your thinking of towing mine in you better make yours a "double"!

@ Bob: I thought that your truck came with creeping legs that just popped out when a tire went flat and the truck just started walking back to the garage.

@ Damian: so that is what that was, (epiphany) I thought that was what started this plauge that caused all of these zombies. I am sill wondering if that shot worked

And as soon as I have one epiphany I have a cerebral flatus. I put together the working mock up...a mix of styrene and cardstock. And I see an issue. Thanks to the kit's engines and overly sturdy construction the thing is going to be visually top heavy...like the Poseidon Adventure. I told you guys I over-think this stuff.

Anyway, I figure that since it's mostly zombies and the occasional brigand I can lighten up on the armor a bit. So I'm going to slim down the fighting box a bit with a tubular frame and attach plating to the frame. It will be modular too, allowing quick replacements of damaged plates.

Bigrip, It's going to be a bit on them, at least until I get done with the Pibber. The track's basic chassis is basically done. I just have to work up a bed and some tool cabinets. As far as the word "epiphany"...just wait until I start making up words.

Damian, we'll need to keep tabs on which females you "inspect" in case your epiphany flares up again. One deadly plague is bad enough. So have the scavenger teams add condoms, penicillin, and antibacterial soap to the priority lists.

Old Dragon, I look at them as entertainment. But you'd be surprised how many people look at them as being real. That in itself can be amusing, or sad, if you visit the shows' message boards. Anyway, my tow-track will be more suited to Jeep sized vehicles.

Bigrip, I'll try to get some pics up in the next few days. I'm kind of stoked on the revamped Pibber.

Bruce, that little monstrosity came off very nicely. The figures work really well with the vehicle. What you did with that old Quad kit...I still find that most impressive.

thanks guys, it was really fun putting this diorama together.

the neon sign is scratchbuilt as well, made from brass strips, L strips and plasticard. the Japanese letters are actually based on a photo of a real hobby shop in Toyko, thought it would be a little Easter Egg for those who can read it (which i can't).

cheers, bd.

Some progress on the bike.....

My use of the industrial size gears and chain require some shafts and gears being built up out of the motor casting so everything can line up, also detailing the red plastic gears ...

Working on the swing arm for the rear end ,

Making up a paper template for the plow....

Finishing the basic framework.....

Tacking on some parts, handle bars , seat , and some fuel tanks, to get some ideas on how it will look....

That is all for now, Randy

Quite a variety of builds going on - I am impressed!

This thing is ending up being pretty large. I had to modify the legs so they would be tighter to the body.

I have no idea where in the house I will put this when it's finished.

Adam, I see a lot of thought, brain power, and many hours put into the construction of your walking raider vehicle. Very nice building so far it will be an honor to accompany you on those patrols into the waste land out there.

Really awsome work going on guys. There are so many cool projects that I don't know where to start.

I've finally managed to start my entry. I cut the frame on my Pete and stretched it by 8 inches. I'm in the process now of rigging up some 6x6 axles for the back and linking them together via some homemade transfer cases. I'll post a pic of the completed axles when there done. Here is my frame so far with the axles mocked up.

I'll use the cab and hood from the kit, but the entire armored bed etc. will be scratchbuilt.
