I'm new here and saw this thread. I painted 54mm Napoleonics for several years until raising a family took all my time. Now I'm an empty nester and looking to start modelling AFVs.

13 & 1/2 years in the 'Glorious Corps of Royal Engineers' ( the real Combat Engineers), boy and man.
If it wasn't for the ex-wife I would have served the full 22 (b*>#H)
Now too old for the TA and it's too far to get to a RAF Regt Reserve infantry unit (several hours away) . If it wasn't for that I would be in the green skin again.

I'm a retired US Air Force Lt Col. I had 8+ years active duty (wx guy), 10 years Air National Guard, and 6 1/2 years Air Force Reserve. I never went overseas, so to those of you that did, especially if you went to war, thanks for your service and a salute from me to you.

For those service members from other countries, a salute from me to you also for your service to your country.

Former Active Duty US Army (1989-1992). Served as an Engineer Officer in Korea, Ft Leonard Wood - with a trip to the sand box for Persian Gulf 1. Off the Army books as a Captain. Build mostly armor (and mostly Tamiya) with the occasional airplane and ship.

Did 4 years in the Marines from 2004/2008. Originally assigned an Admin MOS, but ended up being in the S-3 working training and ops for the last three years of my career. Deployed to the Phillipines ISO OEF and Thailand and Korea for several exercises, probably the only Marine I know never to step foot in Iraq/Afghanistan.

I now work for the Department of the Army as a GS employee managing the Casualty branch in Heidelberg Germany. Tough job dealing with death, but its an honor to assist the families of soldiers who gave all and retirees with faithful service to our country.

Spent two years in an engine room . USS FDR CVA -42 . 1968- 1974 , Naval Reserves. Out for ten years and reenlisted in the Seabees. Was the Seabee military instructor for my unit, and rate group supervisor for the electricians. Should have stayed a little longer to make Chief but retired instead. Served proudly....no regrets........To my fellow Seabees "Can Do" to my cousins The Marines "Semper Fi " ...........Al
