I own a computer consulting business. I build new, upgrade, repair, and network PCs. Other than working for the biggest prick I have ever worked for (self employed), its an enjoyable job.

I am a Respiratory Therapist. I run the Ventilators for all types of patients. My first job was an Aviation Ordnanceman in the Marines.
How ironic is that going from building stuff the kill people. To running stuff that now is keeping people alive. Life does have weird twists and turns.

Like TheBear, I don't have a "day job" either, I work the midnight shift (1800-0600) as a Police/Fire/EMS/911 dispatcher for a mid-sized city in the central portion of Mid-Michigan. We are home to a large "Big 10" school which is our major source of "entertainment", most of the kid's have gone home for the holidays so it is pretty slow right now. I am also a member of my departments Tactical (SWAT) Team, which is very cool!

I've been at my job for a little over 3 years, I enjoy it but I can't imagine doing it for another 17 years. So besides my degree in Criminal Justice I am working on a degree in Emergency Management. We'll see where that leads me...

Also worked in restaurants for over 10 years, as a part-time firefighter for 5 years, and worked on an ambulance in Detroit for a very (very, very) short time.

I am a chemical engineer... at least that's what they tell me. I work for an environmental consulting firm in Philadelphia. We mostly specialize in designing air pollution control equipment for hazardous waste incineration units.

My girlfriend is back in Iowa, where I'm origionally from, so I get to spend ALOT of time working on models... hahaha. I imagine that when she finishes up school and gets out here, my "free time" will dry up a bit... Oh well :-) I'm golden 'till May..... lol

I'm a postman, I get up at 4:30 six mornings a week to sort mail for a copule of hours and then pound the streets for three hours. The best part is that I'm usually home by 11.00 am so have most of the rest of the day free to build models. :-)-><

I am a senior Non Commissioned Officer in the United States Air Force. I am a logistics planner by day and a modeler by night... If we are not bombing someone this week. Love the jobs, been to most of the planet at one time or another. Am getting ready to hang this career up, It's one for the young and the old joints just do not want to squeak and bend in those directions. That and moving 11 times in 22 years is getting very old too. Time to settle down, raise my daughter (to build models!) and enjoy more out of life. I would never trade what I have done for anything.

I'm an active duty Army officer with over 16 years of active federal commissioned service and almost 4 years in the National Guard during college. Spent the majority of my career as an armor officer (10 years), but then branch transferred to the ordnance corps just prior to making major. Currently serving in my first "real" ordnance job as commander of a maintenance school. Finally using my banking and finance degree I earned at Hofstra University dealing with budget and fiscal issues.

My rich Uncle Sam gives me a monthly allowance: http://www.dfas.mil/money/milpay/pay/2004paytable.pdf

I am a mechanical engineer working as a technical sales engineer in an instrumentation (thermometers & pressure gauges) company, spend my days at a non-internet friendly p.c. & paper shuffling, but occasionally escape to our machine shop where I can still occasionally get my hands dirty

I guess modelling is a way of keeping my hand in with the practical engineering skills that I don't use day to day

Happy modelling

I'm what's called a Service Coordinator, sort of a Social Worker, for the Commonwealth's Department of Mental Retardation. I've been with the department for just over 25 years in various positions. This is in some ways the easiest position I've had (no aggressive people trying to bite off my hand, no dealing with incontinence, good supportive supervisors) and in some ways the most difficult (trying to arrange services for people when there are major cutbacks and a deficit in the budget.) position I've held. Before this, I filled vending machines, didn't sell insurance for a major company and worked in retail, including a KayBee when it was a "Toy and Hobby" store.

Quoted Text

... no dealing with incontinence, ...

... but that may come with age. I just hope you don't have to deal with incompetence

Sorry, AJ, I couldn't resist.

Hi. Guess what I do for a living? Lol. 11 to 18 year olds in Toxteth, Liverpool. Teach 'em Science is what I'm supposed to be doing but most of them don't seem to want to learn anything so I babysit them for 6 hours a day.
