OK, I signed up. I kind of have an idea of what I am going to do. Once I get everyhting planned I will submit my idea for approval.

Now, I do have one question.......................when are we going to set up a campaign addiction support group?

Thanks,

HARV

I would really like to try this campaign, since I have never done any scratch building. If I jump in, would you gents be willing to provide some extra guidance along the way?

Absolutely! Depending on what the project will be, will depend on who can give the most detailed assistance. This is the best place on the web for tips and community.

Friendly reminder to those signed-up, and those thinking about signing-on - 3 months till launch date, hope all the research/planning/scrounging parts and materials is going to schedule .
I shall be watching with interest the variety of builds and methods used by one and all .
Enjoy your builds but embrace the challenges.

Hi all,

:-H

I'm also a virgin scratch builder and have been contemplating starting something. Flicking through these posts I have found a great deal of info, support, tips, tricks and all that - a lot of it coming from Steve snr - definately enough to spur me into giving it a go.

Would you guys mind if I signed up to the campaign too?

Martin,
If you need info on the Welbike, there is a very good 11 page article on Parascooters in Wheels & Tracks #3, includes drawings of the Welbike, Corgi and Truimph Roller plus also covers the Cushman and Volugrafo 'Aermoto'.

I thought I might have a go at making a master and casting a few. I intend on 1/35 as that is the size I used to make as a kid and have done a couple of oob's since then. I reckon a 1/76th wheel shouldn't be too far off as a tyre, bung a few spokes in (somehow) and make some resin or plaster wheels.

Casper - Thanks for the pointer on wheels and tracks. I do need to find a decent drawing of one with a little more engine detail than I have now. Looks like a good source to me!

I was toying with the idea of a pair - one packed in an opened cannister and the second fully 'assembled'.

Cheers

Martin

Are aircraft allowed? I've scratched bit and bobs before.

But I've had a bee in bonnet about making an X43.

Ideally made in 1/72 so it can go under a b-52s wing. At 12 foot long though that is only two inches
I'll also need to make the pegasus launcher though. The b-52 nasa 008 I'll leave for another year !

X-15 fits on the same pylon too. So I'll build the pylon also, as one can get the x-15 pretty cheap
in 1/72.

Met Steve once at the ScotNats, his builds were something else, and his explanation to me
of how to start just taking on one piece at a time was like listening to some zen master I came
away inspired. What a guy.

Hi JP , Yes aircraft are allowed . Everything and anything is welcomed . Any detail and level of ones skills .

I'm doing a Aviatik - berg D.1 , just have the vac parts from a sierra scale models kit and every thing else will be made from scratch with some luck it might turn out all right

Terri,

I'm not following you around. You just find all of the good stuff first. I spend what little time I have on the computer on the Early Aviation section. I got some great advice from the guys here and thought I'd contribute by doing a complete scratch build.

I'm signed up and ready to go.

I'm not sure Rob on whether we post here or in another part no one has really said anything about it . I did start a build blog in the early avaition forums since the subject which i started is WW1 . However though I think most people have forgotten about this campaign .........
