Hey all. Like CMOT, the RammTiger was my introduction, if you will, to scratch building. I liked it...especially because I could pretty much do what I wanted.

So.....I've not enlisted yet, and this build depends on me being able to get a couple of things cast. However, because it doesn't start for another 7 months, I should be able to aquire all the goodies I'd need...we'll see.

Anywho, this is what I'm thinking about....1/35th scale full scratch with the exception, perhaps, of the two guns (may have to get a couple artillery kits for them):

My arm was twisted out of the socket by Murph!

I'll think of something between now and August.

Darren- Awesome subject. Odd, but, awesome! Who reloads that breech after firing?

Mike- I think I have some photos of that subject for you. I'll have to look. Keep me up on the castings. I'll have to alter mine to get the modern look to them.

Grumpy, I did no such thing! I gently persuaded you with tact and a bit of Blarney. I must say, you were a bit of an easy mark, though.

I will have to debate on this one but I am definitely interested!!

I will just have to think of something to build first.

Welcome HARV! I must say, you do have some time to ponder your subject. Until August, to be specific.
Any subject, any amount of Scratching, a lot or a little. It's up to you.

No-one reloads as when I am finished it will be an auto loader, these are just rough drawings I have done from the vehicle in the game.

Okay, now that whole 57mm M1 ATG is really beginning to bug me. Here I am with a jilllion things to cast up, a M4A3 to finish and all I can think about is how cool a 1/24 scale anti-tank cannon would be. I'm in. Gee Murphy, I hope you're happy now.

A game that is most likely older than you James, I like games such as C&C, this vehicle is an Ordoz Kobra from the Dune series of games.

So does every thing need to be scratched or can I work with in my skill range ?

As much or as little as you like, Terri. There are no parameters. Just a bit, or, the whole darn thing.

That makes you Sweet Sixteen, Terri

Murph, I was called Jim for 47 years, so yeah, perfectly ok. I'm tentatively going to build the M577 APC from Aliens, probably been done a hundred times before, but always liked that machine. Should be a blast!

Jim, you going full scratch on that APC? I love that thing, man! The dropship is the coolest, but, the APC is a close second! Nice!!!

Hi guys,

Just signed up. I think it'll be a good diversion from the other projects that I've got going already and will help avoid the dreaded "burnout". Like some others of us, I'm still not 100% sure what it is I'll build yet. But like Murphy said, we've got awhile to decide.
While I still want to do the 57mm ATG, I was looking through my stash and came across an old model I've put off building for years because it'd take so much scratchbuilding. I've got a few of those old horribly inaccurate Bluetank M29C weasel kits. The ones where the scale is listed as 1/35, it specs out to 1/23 and it comes with figures that are 1/48!
To make a decent 1/24 scale weasel out of this, I'll have to scrap the entire kit (absolutely everything) except for the hull and even it will need major surgery. The more I think about it, it's a perfect candidate!

Probably full scratch, unless I can scrounge up some stuff that'll work.

Terri, I saw the WWI biplane you did, via your gallery pics, nice work! Totally glad to have you aboard.

As to the thread, may this post be the bump to keep it visible.

As I write this, there are 18 participants. Let's get some more before March, huh?

Matt, could possibly I put my somewhat started "USS Arizona space battleship" on for this campaign? I haven't started the engines yet{total scratch} and still need a boatload of building and details to do{bad pun - I know}.

Matt, Darren, Cuhail.... anyone?

Can a single project be entered in TWO Campaigns?

I committed to the "What- If" campaign- but I am planning on scratchbuilding the whole thing.
Looks like Darren's what-if vehicle will be 90% scratchbuilt as well.

Judges Decision Please?

Steve, generally a single "build," regardless of what it is, can be "entered" into one campaign. Your scratch project, though it could fit in the ACUTR or the "What If" campaign, should be "assigned" to one or the other.

Ultimately it comes down to Campaign Administration, but one build in two campaigns wouldn't meet proper decorum.

Thanks Mike-
I did not intend to try to circumvent the rules at all.
I signed up for the "What- If" a few days before this one was announced so I am staying with that.
BUT- I am betting there is going to be some stuff that is of interest to the scratchbuilders over in the "What-If" campaign.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys and gals do over here.

As it pertains to this, newest, conversation. I'll cite an example.

I'll say that my ACUTR build will be a train/rail-related, self-propelled subject. I can't use it for S, L&L because I chose to use it for ACUTR. However, I think I could use my GM-EMD 10 cyl Diesel Prime Mover as a S, L&L entry as it will be complete and is a train subject. I could then add that Diesel engine to my ACUTR build because it's a documented build that's part of the ACUTR model. Since the ACUTR build has no set limit to the amount of scratchbuilding, the V-10 PM would be seen as a kit part and the rest of the build would be scratchbuilt-kitbashed.

Did I write that right? I'm not even sure if I made sense there...

Cuhail
