Here are my first in-progress photos of my project for this campaign.

I completed the basic construction of the jeep and trailer and applied the base coat to it. I made the armored cab and radiator guard from plastic card. I made the twin bazooka set up with a piece of straight sprue, some plastic card, a .50 cal pintle from my spares bin and two bazookas from the Tamiya US Weapons set.

I plan on painting the added on accessories with a different shade of OD Green as these would have been items added to the jeep in the field. So I want to show the difference in the paint/dye lot. I want to get the accessories painted and get some of the detail painting done on the jeep and trailer.

I should have another in-progress photo to show soon.

Thanks,

HARV

Here is in-progress photo #2 of my project.

I have most of the assembly finished with the exception of adding the headlights. I added tissue mixed with a 50/50 mix of white glue and water for the trailer tarp and the windshield cover. I plan on painting them today as well as adding the decals. I still have some detail painting to do and that should about finish it up. I haven't decided it I want to dirty it up with some weathering or not.

Thanks,

HARV

Lookin' good Randy. That's the same technique I use except I use gun cleaning patches instead of tissue paper for a more aggressive patern. Looks just like canvase when it's painted.

I never thought of using those. I will have to give it a try. Thank you for the idea.

Well I am going to consider this project completed. Sorry for the bad photography.

As you can see I didn't do any weathering to it. I may go back and do that at a later time when I am in between projects.

This was my first real scratchbuild project. I enjoyed doing it and I now have the bug to scratchbuild something else. It was fun to take a basic kit and make it into something different.

I didn't do a whole lot of scratchbuilding. I made the armored cab area, the front plate, the bazooka assembly and the tarps for the trailer and windshield. Not a lot, but enough that I enjoyed it.

Thanks for looking.

all,
Just a quick question:
Does anybody object if my proposed entry/build for this Campaign is just a truck cab.
I've been asked to build the truck cab for someone else (just the cab), I'm unsure if it's achieveable with my limited skill level and build methods but I'll give it a bash.
Anyways this is what they are after:

Your thoughts/comments on if this falls within the Campaign brief or suggestions on build method most welcome.

Roger.

Thank you Bob. I appreciate the kind words.

I did have fun with the project. I am hoping for another campaign like this one to come along. I enjoyed making my own parts to add to the kit.

Thanks again,

A bit of Scratchbuilding I have been working on

This is a Leyland Olympian I have been working on off and on.

The model is is in 1?24 and only kit parts so far are the wheels, axles, engine and cylinders.

There are some great ideas and builds in here for this one.
What are the chances of extending this to October ?

Well I guess its over unless there is going to be an extension.

I had a lot of fun with this campaign and hope that there will be another one like it sometime down the road.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. Your project is looking cool as well. You obviously have more patience and skill than I do.

I keep thinking about going back and weathering and dirtying up my project some. One of these days maybe.

Thanks for the comment but I don't about the "...more patience and skill..." statement
You actually completed your project by deadline and I dig that Russian Sniper vignette you did a while back. I have a lot to learn about figure building and painting

and weathering a model is not always necessary, IMO

I think it was the taking part that was most important in this campaign as we will all get an award (I presume) for the element of scratchbuilding we managed to carry out, even if it was not a completed project.

I think this was a fitting tribute to a fine man, sadly gone, and I was glad to take the oportunity to take part. Hope to keep on going with my projects.

Thoughts are with Steve senior's family around this time.

All the best

True that Nige, well put.

in my post above, responding to HARV's post, I was writing too fast and left out the word "know"
Thanks for the comment but I don't know about the "...more patience and skill..." statement

after reading it again it sound like I was pissed about something but I wasn't. I just wanted to clarify that

I didn't take it that way at all. In fact, I didn't even notice the missing word until you pointed it out.

Thank you. I still have a lot to learn as far as figures go but I did think that project turned out pretty good. When a friend of mine stops by for a visit he always goes and picks that one up and checks it out. He really likes it.
