ACUTR Again-Salute to Steve snr!
ACUTR Gallery

STARTS- August 18, 2009
ENDS -August 19, 2010

As many of you may, or, may not know, We lost a valued member of our ranks and modeling, as a genre itself, lost a critical component when Steve died.
He will be missed by many of his fans here at KitMaker and in that spirit of togetherness and sharing, that modeling seems to inspire, he shared some fantastic scratchbuilds, in progress with pictures aplenty.
He started a great Campaign, that helped so many people really embrace the idea that, if it just doesn't exist in kit-form, why not just SCRATCH???
He named it ACUTR (and I STILL have no idea what that stood for... ) and invited everyone in to just ....create.

So, in spirit of the original campaign...I'm not changing a thing.

This is Steve snr's creation, I'm just hosting it for him. His rules, his regs, his campaign.

S kill Level .......from novice to master
C ontent of build ..........you see it --like it---you build it
R equests for assistance ----please give time for reply
A mount of "scratch "-----as much as you feel you are capable of .
T ime.....1 year ....those who have started big builds please show progress made as at start date
C onfimation .............at least 2 pics per month ..to show progress please
H elp with techniques .........post here please

Please sign up and do a scratchbuild or two with us.

Hi Matt and Murphy

The 1/24 DAF drops is on my wish list to work on and keep going with.
http://armorama.com/forums/114167#940014

I have 1/24 Leyland Olympian double decker bus build that also stalled ages ago though I will need to get pics sorted out to show where I am with it.

Hey Murphy, this is what I wanna build.

If it doesn't turn out right, I'll shove a Hemi in it and use it in the racecar campaign.

Thanks Man, my plan worked perfectly! See, there was only 11 people enlisted, so, if I reported 12, someone would unconsciously feel inclined to be #12.

Darrin, you are more than welcome to enlist...did you bring a friend? Or two?

If you are having trouble getting the numbers run this as the second mini campaign such as was done with the RammTiger, I believe that was a minimum of 6, as it was I believe only four of us completed the campaign. Part of the problem could be the thought of scratch building a subject, I know when I started the RammTiger I felt I was getting out of my depth and that could be putting people of adding their name to the list. Now having gone to town with that campaign I feel more at home looking at plastic sheets and tubes and thinking how do I make this look like that.

Oh, no worries, Darren. This build doesn't start until August, so, I can recruit quite a bit until then. I'm doing some small scratchbuilds to let some of the less-inclined to see it's not so hard. I'm pretty confident that they'll pick up.

Jim, (may I call you that?)

Make whatever you feel you can make. There are no limits, up or down. Open scales, open subjects, open minds.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hermon, I think you are as capable of anything you put your mind to. Look at the work you did on the Charger Cop car. Simple as that. You've scratchbuilt.

Hi Guys,

This looks like it'd be an interesting build and I especially like the long time frame given. As we all know, it takes quite a bit of time to put something like this together. I think I'd like to join up but as of yet I haven't decided which of the two projects off my "wish list" I want to do.
I'm really wanting to do a (1/24 scale) LRDG Chevy to go with the SAS jeep. At the same time I'm leaning towards a smaller project of an American 57mm ATG. Both are really good candidates but in reality I'd be better off going with the cannon.
I'd be making this project into a kit form that I could cast so maybe my updates might include some pointers on creating parts for casting? Would that be stuff anyone is really interested in? I do know that if you're going to make multiples of something (especially that others will be assembling) then you have to engineer things a bit differently.
What do you guys think?

Okay, Okay, count me in. Now I just have to figure out what to build!
Does it have to really exist, or can it be imaginary?
I've got a crapload of ideas!

Build whatever you want. There's NO limit to the amount of scratchbuilding either. Kitbashing is allowed as long as there is some amount of scratchbuilding, say, to make the parts match or match-up.
This campaign is to re-assure every modeler that scratchbuilding is a talent obtainable by anyone who gives it a try.
If you need advice on anything, ask away and your fellow builders will answer. If you figure out a cool way to make something ( casting, LSA Jim?) you share it in your build log.

Comraderie and technique-sharing is the name of the game.
