Keenan really nice work there. Your scratchbuilding looks very clean. Do you have any drawings or plans you worked from? I am tempted to do the same but I don't have enough information..

Keep it coming and do you have an idea of putting anything on the back of the M172?

I may have some other links if I find them ill post them.

If some reference is needed, Animal (Dave Willett) did the same trailer too. Check it out here: Subject: M172 Lowboy Trailer

Looking good so far, though.

Never scratch built anything myself... well... basically. I have something in mind for this that I might want to join in with, but I have to see if I can afford all the stuff I need for it. I really like the simple rules and free nature of the campaign.

Seems the perfect time to start. Start small. Use references and make sketches so you can plan the steps you'll take during the build.

This will give you some ideas about that: https://archive.kitmaker.net/forums/14629&page=1

Start there. It's the tip of the iceberg. Look for the original ACUTR star BARV (Miss ya buddy!) for which this campaign is dedicated to. BARV's Threads

We encourage and focus on the construction more than the finished product. Experience is its own best teacher, go for it!

Jump in. Go to the first post by Matt and enlist. We'll help. I promise.

I've made the plunge and enlisted. No one ever accomplishes anything by just wishing, right?

I want to build a "madmax-esque" vehicle. You know the sort of mean, bastardized kind of thing that someone would weld together out of whatever scrap metal they had laying around. I haven't decided on what base to use; probably just a truck of some sort. Throw some plastic card and aluminum or brass sheets into the mix and it's flashbacks to the Thunderdome. I wonder if someone makes a 1/35 scale Tina Turner?

Thanks Cuhail, its getting close to completion. I still have to build the loading ramps and find something for it to haul. It will be in a diorama someday. Then Im going to scratch the M108 2.5 ton wrecker.

Hi Keenan

You probably have this web page bookmarked, but just in case. Thought this might be of use to you.

Kick ass, James! Only two built, huh? Is there a base kit, or, is this going to be a clean scratch?
I like your pick, though!

Cuhail. Im going to use academy's merkava II kit for the hull and the turret's going to be completely scratch built. Yup they only made two of them due to the costs of it so they cancelled it.

Should be fun

Looks like it'll be a fun project, Jaymes!

I've actually started on my build of a post-apocalyptic "mad-max" truck. Using a Revell '99 Chevrolet Silverado truck kit as the base. It's definitely no Tamiya or Dragon in terms of quality, but that's OK since aside from the frame I'm going to be hacking and slashing everywhere else.

I will be joining the ACUTR with a 1/35 T-155 "Firtina" conversion. The T-155 is a Turkish-built variant of the South Korean K9 155mm self-propelled howitzer. I will be using the brand-new Academy K-9 kit as the base.

Hello and a very merry christmass.

I have just joined the campain with this somewhat unusual build http://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/150417&page=1

It should hopefully turn out to be a airship inspired by Steampunk and movies like "Caste in the Sky" and "stardust"

Cheers/Jan

Here is the kit I will be using and my intended project.

Here is what I plan on building. This is one of Steven J. Zaloga's drawings from his book "US Army Jeep at War" published by Concord Publications.

I had changed my mind and had decided to build a Mad Max type of vehicle but then I decided to go back to my original plans. I could have chosen a better quality kit I am sure but I figured that this would be a good one to start developing some scratch building skills on.

I hope to post some in-progress photos soon.

Thanks,

HARV
