I got some good directions from Keith. It's over near old Plano which is east of Central X-way just north of Richardson. If you want to meet at my house we can leave from here. It 'll take a little under an hour I figure maybe less. Billy check and see if Ben wants to go. I know he usually works Sunday evening.

We had a really nice turnout at the make and take. Keith and I were called "experts" (how little they know--ha). I believe there are two more opportunities to get involved, Keith will notify us as to when and where. The kids are great and we got whole families involved as well.

Wish I had seen the notice about the Make and Take in time to participate, it sounds like it would have been a very interesting afternoon. I would certainly like to help out in the future, and i would also be very interested in the modeling club.

To all, just keep monitoring this thread and Keith will inform as to when and where the next session will be. It is roatating to all the libraries throughout the PLano system. The one we were at last Sunday is where the club will meet. It is in the "Old" PLano area. The kits we are buildig are very simple 72nd airplanes. We are just showing them some basic techniques. It takes 2 or 3 guys to run it so we can give the kids hands on instruction. It is so much fun and hopefully we'll gain a new crowd. We even got teenagers and young adults i the session was at.

The next session will be Sunday May 7th at the Haggard Library on Coit, and then a few weeks later the last class will be at Davis Library. I'll email addresses.
Looks like we have picked up about 5 new modelers to date who want to form a model club in the area. i have reserved the last saturday of each month from 1-5 at the Harrington library, with the first meeting set for April 29th.
I have also applied to the Historical Scale Model Society to get an official chapter charter for Dallas. I arbitrarilly selected the name "North Dallas 1/35th Platoon"... anyone want to take a shot at drawing up our arm patch?

The first idea that I had would be (in heraldic terms): on a field green (or olive drab) the letters N D in gold ( or dunkelgreb) and the device '1/35' in silver (or fieldgrau). I will try to draw this up when I get a chance.

Hey guys, thought I'd drop in and say "hi" and catch up. Nice to see a lot of activity in the area, nice going with the make and takes!
Our own club and close to home even, can't beat that.
I should have time again to get back to builds after April, this season has me extremely busy. I just took on helping with a 3rd team to go along with the two teams I'm already coaching, being a division director, board member and other odds and ends. I'm scared to see how bad I'll be when I was just starting to get comfortable with some builds.
Count me in for the club and I'll try to make it for the make and takes, not that I have a lot of knowledge or experience but another set of hands helps.

Guys, the kids are great. They ask the simpliest most basic model skill questions and are absolutely fascinated by everythig you show them. They all pick it up real fast and most want to build a second one. Some surprise you with ther military history knowledge too. I'ld like to see us all get togethe and do a group diorama sometime. If Keith can get that excellent figure painter guy to come and show up how he makes those prize winning figues for his dioramas
