Like Reb and Ben said, the manager of the Arlington Hobbytown which is on Cooper just past the Park City Mall on the left would very much like a goup of us to come in and get together. They stock a pretty nice assortment of Armor kits and this would probably encourage him to add more He also does a couple of contests a year.

I would be up for that, especially since I'm just starting out with armor and military.

Hey Ben:

I found out what popped the decks on my sub. Cold. got home from the test (not to bad 34 T - F ) and kicked in the heat. Looked at the sub a few hours later and it was fine. The decks are metal which is more affected by cold than plastic. Glad you are interested Taz. Gonna try Andy, MOe, and Keith

Hey Steve,

Thanks for inviting me. Haha it's like a candy store! Your aircraft carriers are very impressive. Now I know if I ever want to build one I'd ask you for your advice!

I was thinking about maybe printing up a sign to put on the door of the Hobbyshop. Making up a name....the one that popped into my head was Southside Military Modeler Club. Saying Come one , Come All. Do you love model building? Are you an old hand or just strating out? Thinking about getting together with other folks who like to build. NO MONEY INVOLVED, except you do have to purchase your own kits and supplies (LOL) only requirement to join is a love of military models. A hard core group of us are into tanks, and some of us do the big ships, but would welcome airplane builders and military history buffs who want to share. If you do only cars, I think there is a club in FOrt Worth that does that. Goals...#1 to have FUN, #2 to share knowlege and lastly #3 to promote the hobby, mainly to the youngsters. Then put some contacts as in the three of us with email addresses JUst a thought and input is expected from all of you. I'ld like to get some other interest generated and who knows we might run into some old Armorama members who are still in the area and have kind of dropped by the wayside.

Excellent idea Steve! Just buncha guys get together and have fun. No money or politics involved. No contest, just sharing ideas and techniques so we can all be better modelers.

Anyone who is interested can leave a note here on the thread or PM one of us!

Got responses from Moezilla and KFMagee. Moe would be up for it even though it's a big haul from where he lives. He likes the unstructured thing like I do because there is no one in charge...non-political type thing. Keith advised me that he is having his dioramas displayed throughout the PLano Library system, consequently they have offered us a room on a monthly basis for a meeting. It's a clip for us "southerners" Up in Plano off of Coit. But he'll teach classes on diorama building, like pouring reisen, making rubble, doinging water and groundwork. I don't know anyones schedule, but for a class like that, it would be worth the trip to me

Depending on date and time, I would be interested in seeing a class like that..

Mabye a few from the the south can carpool so its not a long haul for everyone..

Still would like the meet up here locally too...

But I would love to learn about dio's..

Keith just announced that his work will be displayed in the plano area.

I think it would be really cool if we can choose a date and go as a group on this field trip. Maybe even get Keith to go with us for a little show and tell.

Keith, If you are reading this and show up I promise I buy you a beer!

You guys with me?

Guys the best way to insure you get sme unbelievable tips from Keith is to go to one of the model shows and hang out with him at his table all day long. He sells some great diorama material and constantly demonstrates it to his walk up customers. The best thing all of you can do is to PM him and give him notice you are interested and then we'll see when he wants to / can set up a class. Remember guys this has to be done at his conveniece not ours. And yea TAZ a carpool could be a good thing. My little car can't carry a bunch of folks comfortably and as I don't allow smoking in my car , it might cause Wildcard and Reb some discomfort, I'll volnteer to "ride" :-)

So... Anybody got in contact with Keith? What's the info?

Oh yeah... I have a suggestion if it is all right with you guys. Any info concerning about Dallas TX modelers we can share on this thread so we dont have to run arond in search for all the troopers in this area.

Peace out!

We can always make a new thread, just put Dallas in the title so we all know. This is probably the easiest way to keep the group informed. Keith is dificult to get ahold of sometimes. Andy got frustrated more than once, but he has a tendency to like fast answers :-) So as I said, tell Keith you want a diorama class and ask when He wants to set it up. When someone gets a firm date and time set up, post it. As for the southern meeting, until mid Januray, I'm free everynight and weekends. If anything changes I'll let you know. It'll be kind of counter productive to try anything for this month. I'ld push for a Saturday in January and we can set it up with the shop manager and post signs to attract other folks, that is what my purpose is, to spread interest for the hobby

I would definitely be interested in any classes on dio building or airbrushing. I would also be happy to show up for meetings of the Southside Military Modelers Club or whatever, just need to know when and where.

I 'm not going to get involved in anything until after the holidays. That place (Corner of 20 and Cooper ) is a madhouse what with the mall being there. I eed a phone battery and a new bottle of super glue, the closest I'm getting will be Fryes on Matlock
