Let this be the place to hang out and talk about non model related stuff. I hope it will not be a place for "bar brawl" or the start of a coup... :-) :-) :-)

i tot this thread shd not have anything to do with modelling? Anyhow, yeah, a packet of static grass cost about $7-8. I bought a DVD called Downfall from JB recently. It's abt Hitlers last days in his bunker. It's very good but a bit disturbing. But I give it 10/10. Any idea when the Sepang MotoGp race will be? Today or next Sunday?

Nice idea.

$8 for a packet of static grass?? It's those woodlands scenic kind right?

Err... Sepang MotorGP, ain't it today? You better rush there now... :-)

Gotta agree about Downfall... I'll lay my hands on it when it enters singapore in DVD.

I watched Hitler: The Rise of Evil.. very nice show.
I think Downfall should be on par, if not better than Hitler.

Check out the review.

I will vouch that Downfall is a very damn good movie.! Though not tat many action scenes, it really depicts the desperation of the German army very well near the end of the war. It shows the fanaticsm of the soldiers very vividly. A lot of suicide scenes. The worst one being Goebbels and his family. Very heart-wrenching to see Mrs Goebbels poison her own children in the bunker and then committed suicide with her husband.

There are a few low budget WW2 movies ard that are crappy. I got 'When The Trumpet Fades'. Not the worst but can see that it's a low budget movie. Think only got one-halftrack in the whole show. Hitler is not bad as it has some WW1 scenes. I also got Conspiracy, but too much talk. I also got a few oldies WW2 movies like The Longest Day, Rommel, Tora Tora Tora,Patton, Battle Of Britain.

In battle of the last panzer, its was so low budget that the American soldiers were wearing german helmet but the other way round.

I want to use German ranking too but cannot find. So I don't use any lor. No big deal on the ranking (++)

Anyway, whats the best war movie you have ever watched? Mine would be a tie between "Saving Private Ryan" and "The Big Red One" starring Lee Marvin and Mark Hammil (aka Luke Skywalker).

Like SPR because the show makes effort to use armour as close to the real thing as possible ie, a Tiger looks like a Tiger and not a M47 Patton painted with a panzer cross (ie Battle of the Bulge). And it had Tom Hanks, my favourite actor, in it

Like Big Red One because the story is good! But it uses M51 (Israeli's modified M4 sherman) as Tigers...

Don't know why they didn't have German ranks.. but I read somewhere in the SiteTalk Forum that they might include it in future..

Anyhow... hello Yee..
Welcome to our Singapore forum..
I would go with SPR too.. also in my list would include Thin Red Line & BOB.

Nope.. I missed it. Forgot to watch. But it's only a 1 hour show (Media corp cut the movie izzit??)... is it the making of the movie or it's the real thing (the movie itself)..

I've got the original DVD for Hitler. The movie is not bad, the guy who potrayed Hitler (Robert Carlisle) also did a good job. He acted in Trainspotting & Full Monty if u guyz recalled. As for best WAr movie ever, it used to be TORA! TORA! TORA! and Battle Of Britain for me befroe SPR. Now, it has definitely got to be SPR. Hands down...

To add on Downfall is a must watch too. It's more violent (the suicide scenes) and the Hitler look like REAL! Especially when he goes beserk.

Band of Brothers really blew me away so thats easily my favourite. Are they showing the OIF series 'Over There' in Singapore? If so, its a must see!

Here's one areas you guys havent yet mentioned though....Best War Documentary....here are my choices.

1) Last Days of WWII (History Channel)
2) WWII in Colour
3) War in the Pacific
4) Blunders of WWII (History Channel)

Which one are yours?
