Hello Philip!

I play that game... well, "played" since I enlisted here! :-)

It's a great one! But unfortunately I didn't had the oportunity to play online for now.. do you? I would be happy to join an Armorama IL2 squadron!

Jean-Luc

P.S. If you read the "thanks" at the end of the "Pacific Fighters" booklet, you can find my name! No kidding!

Hi- I play IL2 FB. I used to play online with a friend but haven't recently due to the need to upgrade my PC. It's definitely the better way to play as it throws in that unknown human factor!

Wow Jean-Luc, i just checked and you are in there! How did you help with the making of the game?
I am also a pretty bad pilot, mostly because i play with stalls and spins of, so when i play online i stall quite a lot. The idea of a armorama squadron sound good, or mabye we could just have a dog-fight amongoust ourselvs. THere is a feature where you can become a server, but create a password so only people you know can enter.

cheers

That sounds really cool We should definately do that and I'm allready in :-)

Well, spinning and stalling are my favourite things to do also

Which plane is btw the easiest to fly with?

Hi all!

We could make some sort of "Worst squadron of the world" as I still fail to land safely half the time! I don't speak of landing on a carrier!

Philip, "help making of the game" is exaggerated! :-) The story is simple! The guys at Maddox Games were in hurry and asked in various website for help for doing textures, maps, ground objects etc... I proposed my help and was "enlisted" to do the Okinawa map. I worked a few weeks on the map and the job was supposed to be for money (although I didn't did it for that purpose). Unfortunately, as the job was finished and e-mailed to them, I didn't received any message anymore... just my name in the booklet! I'm still waiting for the cash! :-)

The thing about the game is that to play online, every player needs the same version on their computer. At the moment I have the Pacific Fighters version with the first update. This will not work online with someone who has an earlier version of the game or a later update, unfortunately.
If an Armorama squadron were to be established everyone would need to be compatible.

As for 'best' plane, the Gladiator is rather niceand aerobatic, but flimsy, the Mig3 can be hurled around nicely and the La7 is quite good as well. But they all tend to spin... and I thought it was my flying!

hi dogload!

I have Pacific Fighters (merged) installed and downloaded the 4.01 version but have not made the update yet. So my actual version should be 3.04!
The problem is my PC isn't connected to the net and never was! I'm using a Mac for that! So I first have to figure out how I can have internet working on it!
But flying online would be really cool!

I would say that the easyest plane to get off the ground and fly would either be the P-51 or the La-7. They both have thier advanteges and disadvanteges. The P-51 has 6 .50 MGs and takes along time to run out of ammo but they are not very powerful. The La-7 (with 3X ShVAK) Ias easy to fly and has good guns but runbs out of ammo quickly.
Who here wants to be the server, and will it be Forgotton battles or Pacific Fighters (i have got it on standalone)

cheers

Uh we always used to just have the 'Unlimited Ammo' feature switched in... more in it for the game than the realism, I think.

BTW if you want to play FB online you will need to update your game to v.1.22 There is a patch on ubi.com to change v.1.00 into v.1.22. Here is a link:

Hello all!

I think we should first choose the version we want to play!

There are:
IL2 (the first one) - I don't have it!
IL2-Forgotten Battles - I have it!
IL2-AEP (aces expansion pack) - I have it!
Pacific Fighters - I have it!

The most important is to begin with that: can we all manage to have the same version installed!
I would say a standalone installation would be the easiest way! What do you think?

I don't have AEP but have got all the others. I think that the original IL2 does not have enough aircraft and i don't think too many people have Pacific Fighters (i could be wrong).

Maybe the best choice would be IL2 Forgotten Battles then...
Does everybody agree?

Doh!
I'll be in your land Jean-Luc for the next three weeks so I'll just see what has transpired when I get back- I'm going to have to upgrade my PC then anyway, so even though I'd prefer Pacific Fighters, I'll go with the concencus.

By the way, Jean-Luc, are there any interesting aircraft museums in the Charente region that you know of? We'll be going to Saumur, but it would be good to see some planes as well.
Cheers,

Hello dogload!

I'm afraid the Charente is too far away from were I live! I don't know the region enough to give you some infos! Sorry!

About Forgotten Battles, it was just a suggestion... if everybody has Pacific Fighters, it's fine for me! I suggest everybody should post the version he would prefer and then we could make a decision...

As I never used my PC with internet, I have to get it connected first. You will be away for three weeks? I guess it's the time I will need to handle this! :-)

Eh bien, I'll just have to make do with lots of melon and cognac (for a change, lol.)
