Hi all!

I saw Philip's server as well but couldn't join: connection attempt to remote host failed. reason: time out was the message I got...

I didn't saw your server attempt Eetu

Did you saw mine?

Philip how did you do? Did you launched your server from within the game? Don't we need the dedicated server patch to get it to work propely? It"s a big file to download...

Jean-Luc

I saw only one room named armorama, I don't know if was yours or Procrazzy's, I presume Procrazzy. Have you tried joining other players' games? I haven't yet, so I don't if that works either.

I tried running a multiplayer game from within the game. I got flying and everything seemed to work. Nonoby showed up, though. Can we give it a try again, just to test it out? I could try creating a game room from the ubi.com application.
Does the game require a separate server patch as well? I thought it was inlcuded in the 1.22 final patch. My patch file was named "patch122_over10".

Could we give it a try someday, Tedmamere?

Hi Eetu!

I downloaded the dedicated server patch... but I didn't installed it yet... it was a 410 Mb file and it took a few hours

I hope it will work with that server thing... but frankly, I don't know

Procrazzy managed to make a server but we couldn't enter it... too bad. It would be nice if he tells us how he managed to do that. I also tried from within the game but I didn't saw anyone...

We should definitely try again! I will install the server patch tomorrow to see if it works. I'll post another message tomorrow to inform you of the results...

Okay, Tedmamere. Tell me what time are you trying to get the server running, I can then try to join in.

Edit: I just tried joining another game I could see. I got in and it worked fine. I even got one kill, but I was shot down three times...

... that's more than me! I just managed to drop some bombs on airfields and straffed planes on the runway... I really have problems with gunnery!

Did you fly with or without cockpit during your session?

Hi Philip!

Thanks for the info... I didn't knew it could work that way!

Hopefully there is no professional IL2 online player around! I think he would be very amused about the way we are trying to make an Armorama server... :-)

I flew with cockpits on.
They say that most times when a pilot is shot down, it's because he didn't see the enemy first. I can tell, that's true.

One interesting thing is that all of my defeats were because of controll failures in my plane.

Hi all!

Today is a great day! First official Armorama dogfight was fought today by me and Emeritus and ended... in a tie! :-)
We managed to collide in the sky on your last fight... I think it was 2 all at that time...
Well, don't take it too bad Eetu but, since I'm not a good pilot (oh god my shooting!), we are both not really aces I think!

So guys! Come and share some Russian skies with us! beginners are welcome!

Emeritus, I think for a start it was not too bad... we should definitely try this again!

I had a great time too! All we need now is more pilots to join in!
I had problems finding the right plane to fly. That Bf-109 with the wing cannons wasn't exactly suitable for dogfighting! :-) One thing I learned was to land with elevators disabled. I made back to my homebase by applying full flaps (to keep the nose up), and steering with ailerons and throttle. I ended upside down on the runway, but I was alive!
One more thing I have to remember is not to fly over enemy airfields on low altitude. That flak isn't very healthy...

Hi Eetu!

Yes it was fun!

I must admit I cheated a little bit... while waiting for you to join, I made a few flights to the nearest ennemy base and destroyed the AA tanks there! :-) This surely gave me an advantage... even if I was shot down at least one time by ground fire... Seems the ground AA is getting repared after a while.

I managed to land after one of our dogfight and noticed once on the ground that I had a BIG hole in my left wing and the rudder was half gone! The fuel tank was also hit and the engine stopped just as I arrived on the parking!

If we could manage to enlist a few more pilots we could play with some prepared scenarios! Imagine two or three bombers with a small escort trying to bomb an ennemy airfield while the other side is trying to protect it... that surely would give a real mission feeling!

All we have to do now is find a few more Armorama pilots out there!

Hi Philip!

I would say every Friday 6 PM GMT you can expect an Armorama arena to run for a couple of hours... it would be cool if we manage to fly regulary at least one time per week... and maybe more in the future!? The password will always be circus ...

If someone thinks of another day, he can post a message here. I know Friday evening may not be the perfect solution for everybody... so we are open for suggestions!

Hi Jurjen!

Excellent! Do you prefer to fly Red (Soviets) or Blue (Axis)... I think Emeritus and Procrazzy are more "Axis" oriented (correct me if I'm wrong guys!) so I'm the only "Soviet" one by now...

For those who want to join here is a summary of the previous posts:
Armorama Arena on Fridays from 6 PM GMT to 8 PM GMT (it can be more if we have fun...)
We use IL2 FB version 1.22 (it won't work with another version) Download here
You have to create an account (free) on ubi.com Sign Up
The Armorama password is circus

Hi folks.. I'm reporting for action!

I've read the notice in the aircraft forum (posted by Jean-Luc) and here I am!!

Anyway.. I got IL-2 FB version 1.22.
Bought it a long long while ago... but didn't get much playing time. School work + the fact that my former computer just couldn't handle the game. Resulting in a somewhat "slow motion" simulation.. frustrated.. I decide to give it a shot next time when I have a better computer.. now with a better computer, I've re-installed the game, updated it and i'm in for some flights!! Oh.. BTW, I'm a beginner here... I just suck in flying.. :-)

If everything goes well... Friday it shall be (6-8 GMT.. I wonder what time it will be over here for me.. )

I thin I better get some training now... before I "make" a crater on the airfield ..

If I'm not wrong:
Friday 6-8 PM in England
Friday 7-9 PM in France and Netherlands
Friday 8-10 PM in Finland
Saturday 1-3 AM in Singapore

Maybe I'll start a little earlier to destroy the enemy AA tanks on their airfields :-)

Jean-Luc

P.S. We should be 5 or 6 Friday!

I think he meant that there's going to be at least five guys (or girls) playing.

Yes! Let the girls play with us! :-)8

As Emeritus said, I meant we could be 5 or 6 pilots flying in the Armorama arena on friday... but the timeframe will be 6-8 PM GMT... or half an hour before

Hi all!

Below is the map where we will "play" tomorrow...

The bigger airfields are marked in red and blue. They are the only ones to have solid runways and cool targets to bomb! The others ones are grass airfields. Almost all are in altitude... so climbing to reach combat level will not be a problem!

I will mainly fly with my P-39Q but I think I will also try to bomb "Wagner Stadt" airfield! If I manage to break the german defence!

See you tomorrow above Vadimkino and Wagner Stadt!

Jean-Luc

P.S. I took the picture above with my digital camera... if someone could tell me how to make a screen picture with this PC computer... I use Windows XP... thanks!

I remember F12 takes a screenshot in IL2 FB. I don't know if that works in menus, though. In Windows XP print screen (prt scr in my keyboard) takes a screenshot. It goes to the clipboard, you can then paste (Ctrl+V) it to picture editing programs (like paint or photoshop).

See you on the sky tomorrow!

Hi Eetu!

Thanks for the infos! On my Macs, when I do a screen capture, I hear a camera sound to notify me the picture was taken... is it the same on PC?

Anyway, that's not the most important! Important is that we may not be alone tomorrow! Cool!
