Costas

A disaster for sure, but thank goodness no-one was injured in this mishap. Things can be replaced, people cannot.

I have always followed your modeling here on the site, and obviously encourage you to keep with the hobby that you obviously enjoy so much.

Remember, "Tough times don't last, Tough people do!".

Hiya Costas,

As I said in my PM, this sort of thing always makes me give my kids a hug...and be thankfull I am only dealing with water problems rather than the much more permanent fire problems.

Got a B-day present for you!

Costas
I too would like to offer words of sympathy and encouragment !
i can empathise with you whole heartedly
its a terrible thing that happened
and thank god the only victim was plastic!
as many have already said
,i have recently returned to modelling after my life suffered a set back
i lost my father 6 years ago ,he was my best freind and my modelling buddy too , i felt my modelling was over too , i didnt create anything for for 5 years
if i couldnt do it with him, i didnt want it!
but the very thing i lost was to become the very thing the kept me going in this insane sad world, and once again models became my salvation
i decided i would use all of the techniques and advice he taught me ,and now i model i do it for him!
i dedicate each and every peice i create to him,
so you see Costas the heartbreak heals,
if in time you can make it a new start ,remember the pheonix!
all the best and remember if you need help of any kind
we are always here just a message away !

Costas

To read your post was bad enough - to see the pics worse.

I am glad you and your family are OK and you were quick enough with the extinguisher to stop any structural damage.

Are there any unusual Customs/postage rules in Greece regarding what sort of things that can be sent to you to help you get back on your modelling feet?

I imagine paints etc are out - what about glues exactos and the like?

Costas: Sorry for your loss, but also glad that you and your family came through the fire safe. I hope you will continue to participate in our fine hobby and to help ease your path, I will gladly contribute a spare kit and tools from the stash to get you back on your feet.

Costas,
I was very sad to hear about the disaster that have struck your den.

sometimes we need these incidents to fully appreciate what we have and dont take everything as granted like we often tend to do.
you are lucky that you and your family are healthy and that you have so many good friends here in Armorama.
your best tool - your creativity and skills werent destoryed in the fire. I'm sure the "itch" to use these skills will come up again when the initial shock and pain will fade in the next few weeks.

all the best.

I weep for your loss. If you desire, I could mail you an airplane kit or two. Reminds me of a musical group I heard about . They were making a record in the early 70's and the place they were making it burned down. They borrowed a bunch of stuff and finished what they had started writing one more song about what had happened to them and putting it on the album. Name of the group "Deep Purple" name of the song "Smoke on the Water"...one of the greastest - most popular rock songs of all times So maybe your love of modeling will allow you to recover from this and you'll have your own Smoke on the Water success

Costas,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, and am glad no one was hurt.

I don't have the time to read the other replies so I don't know if this was mentioned before, nor do I know about insurance in Spain, BUT...

In America (and I apologize for comparing to America in you or anyone takes offense), home owner's insurance covers ALL personal property as long as you have PROOF of what you own. Judging by your "BEFORE" photo, check to see if an insurance agent can at least reimburse you for something, least the room, walls, flooring, wiring, FURNITURE, etc...maybe even a table and chair and counters. Try to gather all your photos of your workbench before and see what you can recover.

You may not be able to recover kits, but see if your insurance covers anything over $100 EURO, for example. It's worth a shot, and this is what insurance is for, accidents, thefts, etc. Since there was damage to your home, hopefully you can repair your model room with furniture your insurance pays.

A computer, like a TV, is considered a major item and likely insurance will cover as part of Homeowner's insurance.

You may have to defend yourself, saying that you're not a careless modeler and take safety precautions. After all, you modeled this long without an accident...one caused not by your fault.

Granted, I'm not an insurance agent, nor do I know the legal laws. This info was passed down from family and friends. Give it a try and all the best.

Its only normal you are a little down now Costas. Time is a good healer. The important things survived unhurt, which is way more important. I guess its an important lesson we can all learn from your unfortunate accident. Best of luck and Im sure things will start to look up in the near future!

Costas,

Holly Sheeee - it bro, my heart goes out to you.

As for the hobby, just clean it up and take a break. Bit by bit, you can add tools and supplies back into it to return to the hobby.

Just a 2¢ thought from the good 'ol USA

I'm really sorry for your loss my friend and even more sorry I didn't see your post earlier before I sent you the PM on the bamboo.

Its good no one was hurt but sad to hear of such a great loss. From the posts here you can see you have many friends and much support so I really hope that your'e only going to take a break and not leave altogether. The loss to modelling in general and this site would be even greater without your valuable contribution.

Take care my friend and don't worry about collecting the other plants. I will try to send you any plants you need.
