What about if we make a quizz?Let´s have some fun and learn more about military. How it works?
I´ll make the first question, and who gives the right answer first can ask another one and so on...

By the vast number of reponses, I would take it no one knows the answer. I have no idea what "operation overclap" was....
but sounds like a fun shore leave........ :-)

Me too, I've got a site saved that has all the operation code names for the ETO, but this one isn't listed. I'm guessing it might have been PTO but I can't find it. Good question though. I'm in a history quiz that is similar to this on another site, www.historical-battles.com and I was seriously thinking of using this question. But that would be cheating.

Bus,
Do you mean Operation Thunderclap? It was the fire bombing of Dresden during WWII. I can find no reference to Operation Overclap in any of my references. Or possibly you meant operation Overlord? If not I am stumped
Cheers,
Bryan

Maybe it was Ike's plan to send all of the Overlord participants to the brothels one last time before the invasion...

Ok, how about this one. The 101st Airborne is best known for action in the siege of Bastogne is the Battle of th Bulge. What other units were also besieged in Bastogne? I've got five other units listed besides the 101st? Name any two of them.

I'm going to guess you're right Bus. I've got 10th Armored, and elements of the 9th Armored, 28th Infantry Divisions, 705th Tank Destroyer Battalion, 1128th Engineer Combat Group and "5 corps level artillery battalions." My source doesn't name those arillery battalions so I'm gussing 463rd was one of them.

Your turn.

32 Brazilian vessels fell victim of U-boats all along the coast, with painful consequences to the national spirit, which eventually led to the declaration of war on Germany and Italy in August 1942
