Did a quick recon of JMN earlier:

Tamiya M2 Bradley - 850
Academy 1/32 F/A-18C Hornet - 4195
DML Leopold - 3495

They also have some new 1/87 Revell train kits, a HUGE Monogram 1/48 B1-B, and a HUGE Revell Space Shuttle.

Jeep: Wait a minute, wait a minute... did you just say train kits? Goodness a TRAIN?!? Woohoo! Me likes that very very much! And a space shuttle! Goodness...

Fritz: Re:Trump's Chally2, I think I got mine at STC for P650 or P550, not sure. It was months ago. It's a damn nice kit. Never mind the criticisms about it (wrong wheels, disappointing engine detail, etc etc), it's a great kit, IMO. Plastic is a bit soft though (unlike what I've experience with the other Trump kits - M1 series and Strv103B), but that's a plus if you plan on accurizing it (especially the turret where the mantlet is). I'll be doing mine in Op Telic scheme, using Tamiya's up-armored skirts that come with the Chally 1 Mk3 and other modifications. Nice big kit and the decal sheet looks splendid.

For the Brit fans, STC also sells the Trump AS-90 with a choice of doing a 39-calibre or a 52-calibre long 155mm gun (the latter will be the Braveheart version). Again, the decal sheet is HUGE and excellent. According to kit reviews, the Trump AS-90 is an excellent kit. Got it for P750 I think.

For those looking for a magnifying glass to be used for painting 1/35 figures, I bought one at National Bookstore. It cost only PhP 75.00, its got a 5 inch diameter and I think the magnification is also 5x. The only problem I have now is how to find a stand so I could use both hands for painting, coz its quite heavy considering that it has a plastic frame.

oh, there's also a magnifying glass with a "clamp", to keep your hands free. A bit pricey tho, goes for around Php 1,999. (:-)

clean the quote!!! hay...

STC has a pair of those, but at an unbelievably high price, a bit lower than the clamp-on -- but give or take, the clamp on beats the hell out of the strap-on with regards to magnifying power and "use".

Hmm, my brother bought an M4A3 Sherman 150mm tank the other week, and I was just wondering what difference the M4A3 75mm has over the 150mm, aside from the obvious of course hehe! AFV guru's, care to enlighten a young AFV-padawan such as myself.

Oh and I'm liking these: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/plastic/135militaryminiatureseries/35264.html & http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/plastic/135militaryminiatureseries/35158.html

On the topic of tanks, I'm currently collecting-up some kits for a 'Nam era diorama, any notable tanks during those era's, which are of course locally available?

150? Or should that be 105? The stubby 105mm is a howitzer, while the long French 105mm used by the IDF is a gun. The 105mm howitzer Sherman was used in WW2. The 105mm French gunned IDF ISherman was used in the 1967 War - and maybe the 1973 War, not sure about the latter though.

Let's see Vietnam...

There's Academy's M163 Vulcan - dunno if this was really used in Vietnam. Also the M113 ACAV which Academy and Tamiya have. The M16 Half-track by Tamiya. The T-34/85 used by the NVA by Dragon. Standard M113s by Italeri, Academy. There's an Italeri M109 Paladin which you might be able to modify to produce as a Vietnam-era M109. There's the M110 or was it M107 155mm or was it an 8-inch howitzer - either by Revell or Italeri, or by both. There is an AFV Club 105mm towed howitzer which could've been used in Vietnam also. Tamiya's M41 Bulldog which is nice but needs to be accurized. AFV Club's M41A3 Bulldog which has an ACAV gun shield. Tamiya's new T-55. Trumpeter does some T-55s and some Chinese tanks that might've been used in Vietnam also. M48 and M60 tanks as well, Italeri, Academy, Esci. AFV Club's M88 recovery vehicle - 2 kinds, one is the Nam version (which Jeep has) the other can also be configured for Nam I reckon. LVTP-5 by Italeri might've been used in Vietnam. There's a river patrol boat in 1/35 by Academy or Italeri that was used in Vietnam also. Then there are the jeeps by Academy and Skybow as well.

All of these are available to some degree at STC, Accurate, JMN, Lils.

The AFV Club 'Nam M88 is highly recommended. I built the M88A1 (pics on Rivet Review ) and I had a lot of fun! The 'Nam M88 is the gasoline version while the M88A1 is the diesel version. The finished product is huge and impressive.

Academy's M113s are the most detailed so far. They come with interiors and some stowage. Fit is good. The tracks need replacing though since they are made of very stiff vinyl.

Jeep: Thanks for the heads-up on the M88 thread. Agreed with the comments of those who posted there. Would look forward seeing it finished in a dio. :-)

Oh my, saw the T-55 build up in guntruck.us -- and I'm silently contemplating on getting the kit. Hmmm... (:-)

Oh and this is just beautiful, IMO. "Bunker Dio"

And some "how-to's" I picked up along the way.

"Barbed Wire"
"Scale Calculator"

Hope this helps.

I saw an Academy 1/35 M1A1 sa Accurate. IMO, this has better fit than the Dragon counterpart. Price is about 578

Skip the Academy M1A1 (unless you plan on doing serious surgery on it). It's a poor copy of Tamiya's early M1A1 kit.

I see, another copy eh? Kaya pala pangit yung box art. Will try to find that Tamiya one. BTW, is Bradley also called M2A2? or M2A1? Is there any good manufacturer for this one?

What? The M1A1 or the M2A3? La pa akong nakikita eh. I'll go and check some shops. Alam ko lang na available sa M1A1 in 1/35 is the Academy and Dragon.
