Jomz: Regarding your question on figure painting, I suggest you search the internet for articles by Mark Bannerman (most of them are in htthttp://www.digitaldioramas.com/2002/issue4/dd_schutz.htmp://www.track-link.net/) or try this site.. hope this helps

Thanks for the links man! I've seen most of Mark Bannermans works. What I had in mind, in asking the question was to know what "local" guys do, you for example if ever you do oil-painting. (++)

jomz: Oh OK...for AFV wash, I use more thinner (odorless mineral spirit) with a very small amount of burnt umber ( I use toothpick so that I could control the amount of paint). As for figure painting, I first primer the figure using acrylic (Tamiya German gray) so that the oil will stick immediately. I thin the oil with the same medium (mineral spirit), but as you said expriment, experiment..

i have my hand drill/grinder last night, it really looks like the dremel hand drill except for the sticker/brand on the body of the drill. i'll be posting the pix tonight or tom.

The drill/grinder comes with 20 (sander, drill bit, polisher, grinder, etc) and 3 fittings, im using dental bur and drill bits for my old drill and it fits perfectly well on 1 of the fittings. The drill/grinder has 6 speeds and can do 30,000 rpm.

The size and weight of the drill is exactly the same as the dremel's hand drill and comes with a plastic case.

Overall, it works great and very cheap indeed... you can even use B&D, dremel fiitings, burs, polishers and other dremel accessories (shaft, cutting saw, etc).

I saw one brand Academy in STC Festival Mall in Alabang worth 700 pesos two years ago for sanding, polishing & drilling for models almost the same size as Dremel but much cheaper and also battery operated.

IIRC, this is just a drill? I may be wrong. Last time I was there, I saw 3-drilling sets. One included a something that resembled a microscope-dish, hehehe, can't put what it is into words. I'll try to look for the exact name of the model -- it's probably by Gunze-Sangyo.

Oh my, just saw vss's hand-grinder. And isn't it just so pretty, with the price and the tips included in the set, I'm really curious as to where vss got it.

Pa-post naman nang details. Thanks!

the hand drill/grinder is P1500, my friend bought it for me since he bought 1 also... the store is somewhere in manila and limited na and stocks for now kse mas mabenta daw sya sa B&D.

I'll ask my friend to check kung may stock pa, he could buy it for you. send me na lang a PM if youre interested.

I saw that tool. Was it the small one? Yung RPM nyan is around 16000. 2x faster than my Black and Decker RTX and yes it is battery operated. Probably used more for drilling than any other because of its RPM

vss, no need to send the pics. Just got it from jomz. It is almost the same as my B&D tool! Ang pinagkaiba lang is the bits. Mas marami nga lang yan. Hanggang ilang mm kaya nyan? Up to 0.5mm?

I recently bought some stainless steel parts to make a water trap extension. BISIGI and I found out the hard way that attaching our PHP500 water traps directly onto the compressor air outlet will not catch any water. Methinks it's because the water is still a vapor when it comes out of the compressor.

Users on the 'Net recommend installing the trap as close to the airbrush as possible. Since the trap we have is as big as a 1/35 M151 Jeep this is not an option. I looked for ways to put some distance between the trap and the compressor.

The solution I found was purchased at Ace Hardware Megamall for around PHP200. It is composed of two parts: a 6-inch long 1/4-inch diameter(or radius, haven't really checked) male to male pipe and a stainless steel coupling of the same size. I brought along the trap to ensure everything will fit. I asked around if there are any GI (uy GI hehe) parts or plastic parts because they are a hell of a lot cheaper than the stainless steel parts. Sadly there were none of the 1/4 inch variety. The smallest they got was 1/2 inches.

I screwed the trap into one end of the pipe. I screwed the coupling to the other end. Since the coupling was male to female I can now screw the whole assembly to the compressor output. I took the whole thingamajig for a dry-run (wet-run?) yesterday for 30 minutes. Lo and behold: No water got into the hose! It makes my compressor look like a h***y elephant but what the hey it works! Good thing too because it ain't that cheap.

Will take pics when able.

Yeah, I'm a cheap skate. Which is just ok because I'm maintenance-intensive hehehehe

That sounds... not quite right... ROTFLMAO! Stop screwing around Jeep. High Command might know LOL!

Hey, I know this may sound a bit gay, but I need some acetone-free nail polish! I read somewhere on the 'net that it strips Tamiya putty right off. I tried it with some of the stuff Mercury Drug sells - it works, but melts the plastic! (prob acetone in it - the bottle didnt say) Any ideas or help would be nice!

I've been getting strange looks myself. I've been prowling the aisles of Watson's looking for acetone-free polish remover. Sally Hansen IIRC has a few bottles in different strengths but they're big and they cost around PHP150.00. I haven't tried these on putty yet. I tried plain old acetone on putty and it just made the stuff more difficult to handle.
