Excellent response Cartridge!
Model building is relative - one superproject is nice, but so are the humble efforts of an everyday modeler! To each his own - and have fun in what you choose to do.

If this guy's wife ever finds out that he spent almost $1000 us on this puppy, he is DEAD MEAT....heck, if my wife knew it was even POSSIBLE to spend that much, she'd make me take up golf instead!

When i read through the article, i think it is still a work in progress, but he has said that he wont paint it! Thats like building the nicest house ever and not putting a roof on!
What a pity ....... I think someone should offer to paint it! Would be unreal!

Thanks for the tour, Now if we could get this boy some real Tiger parts and turn him loose...
With all that work, not painting it seems a shame, my mouth drools at the painting, lettering, washing, drybrushing and finishing prospects of such a concerted effort. I am truly inspired to know that I'm not even in the same league as this guy, but he has given me some Ideas, so thanks and a tip of the greasy old Red Razorback ball cap.

Wow.... That certainly is the most detailed interior I've ever seen. I can understand why he doesn't want to paint it.
I rather like the look of all the different mediums. Metal, platic, brass...

I dunno... those golf balls add up quickly. Especially when you have to buy two dozen for
each round! (at least I have to do that...)

Sublime scratchbuiding. I wonder why he bothers to buy the kit altogether ? The kit is only 10% of the total result. This isn't upgrading : it is building a kit of its own. Now THAT is modeling :-) :-) :-)

With this much detailing he better keep the hull open. Otherwise, what's the point?

That's an impressive work !
And it shows us what can be achieved with a good use of AM stuff !
Next time, he'll probably chose more scratch and less AM to avoid bankuptcy !
I'd realy like to see the model "in real" !!!!

I'm conflicted on this. On the one hand, it's great work. Then I look at the list of AM and the fact it won't (can't) be painted. Give most people unlimited funds for AM and this is really just one mega kit that's well assembled. I'm more impressed with builders like John Smith who scratchbuilt all the detail in the M1 featured in FSM a couple months ago based on tanks he works on. I've seen some of his other work, such as a superdetailed 1/72 M-163 including a full interior. Or the work of Talal Chouman who scratchbuilt the 2001 IPMS Nats BOS Bradley in 1/16 scale as well as his 1/16 scratchbuilt Abram. Or a local car builder who detailed a 1/24 auto so the dash mounted light switch worked, the engine fan turned and sped up and the butterfly valves in the carburator opened and closed. in response to the gas pedal being depressed.
