Rant On!
I don't know how you guys can berate this guy for "incomplete work" or at least be "conflicted" over the fact the work will be unpainted
He is working on something "6 hours a week" and obviously enjoying what he is doing.
Will he complete it? Who knows?
Do I care?
Not really, the reason I model is for myself, if I cared what everyone thought I would never get any done.
So he chooses to spend his free time "super detailing" one tank. Good for him. And good for all of you who spend more time building and less time "berating"
I would rather you shared your work and if you ask for criticism, I'll hopefully give it "constructively".

WOW Michael - I didn't really think anyone was "berating" the efforts displayed there - but I could be wrong
Just because everyone isn't drooling over their keyboard and genuflecting when passing the thread by doesn't mean they're not impressed...
I think there's plenty "hero worship" going around to suit all - I doubt the modeler is all that worried about it one way or the other...

I have done that. Check the figure discussions and the pre-1900 figure campaign.
I'm sure he's enjoying himself as we all do at our work benches. And that's fine. Wether he finishes or paints it means nothing to me. As I said, the work is great, excellent, in fact, I have no quibble with the qulaity of the workmanship. But if any of us had a thousand dollars to lay out on a $50 kit, we'd all have great work, too. I happen to prefer work done to represent a prototype, not a showcase for how many after market parts I can accumulate. :-)

That is pretty darn inspirational work. While I don't have this level of dedication to a single project (or the money) I admire this guy for the purity of his work. He may have spent a truck load of money on it but I've spent as much on a pile of kits that remain unbuilt. This guy's at least focussed enough to channel his money and time into a single masterwork. As for whether or not he paints it, I don't care. In fact, I sort of agree with his reasons for not painting it. And I doubt it's to gloat over how much he spent on AM parts. Once it's painted it'll be harder to appreciate just how much he's done to anyone but the most tiger-learned modelers. He's obviously not building this thing for a contest. He's building it purely for his own satifaction and isn't that what we should all be doing? Constests be damned.

And he hasn't even started the turrett yet!!!!!!. Yikes already spent over a thousand wait till he gets to the outside of the tank. Of course as they say...best ever, we can all sit and drool over this one. The stuff's out there to mimic it, but not this piggy.

We all ultimately build for ourselves and the fun it provides us. I am not glad to see abussive posts, there really is no room for those. And for the record, I do admire the quality of your work, it's not the easiest thing in the world to successfully work with aftermarket parts and you have done so spectacularly. Again, I apologize if I came across too aggressive. And I hope you join this community. It really is quite suportive and a good bunch of folks.

Welcome Lee,and I hope you will enjoy your enlistment.
I don't think anyone meant any harm by their comments. I know that I was pretty incredulous when I saw it, and I think everyone else would support me when I say that this is a fine piece of work from any standpoint. Make sure you post an introduction in the Introductions Forum, but I will warn you, Armorama is VERY addictive. I am glad you came though. Watch out for those DSB guys.

We all have our reasons for model building. And I must say, "God is in the details". If you're going to put your hand to something...why no go all the way. The amount of detail that you have given this project is an inspiration to all who gaze. Thanks for the reminder that it's quality and not quantity that brings satisfaction to us all!

Hey guys,
I know lee, and from what he has told me was that he was not going to paint it.
This was his first 1/35th scale piece. He only has about a year into it! I told him about my 1/72nd scale Panzer IV J scratchbuilt interior that I was doing and he was happy that somebody was doing such detail in his scale that he use to work in.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's interior invasion!!!!! What can I say, It is an impressive piece of scaled down realism! But he got the model for £ 550 !? here in the Philippines, I saw that model dozens of times and they all cost just near 1000 pesos. That's about £ 13.00 ! I'm really sorry to say that here in my country, modelers & retailers usually commend on Academy as a, I'm really SORRY, low quality brand because of the decals, instructions, & the quality of the plastic(not the detail though).

Lee just sold a succuessful IT business to spend more time with his family, he is still in the IT industry, however. He currently lives in the UK. I feel like the guy who writes the little blurb in the back of books about the author. hehe

Well, to apply a little logic to it, the engineers tried to runas few electrical connections from the hull to the turret as they had to, since that made it more complicated than it had to. Also, the driver is probably more than busy in combat, so my guess would be that the radio operator fired them. But that is just trying to apply logic to it. I could be completely wrong.
