Ola Guys and Gals...

Not really sure how to tell this... Kinda struggling with it myself last couple of days.
It always seems lately that when I happen to have some fun in my life something weird will happen. Last weekend was not really an exception. Had a nice party on Friday night. Then Saturday buying my christmas gifts for the family. First time we celebrate it with the boyfriends of my sisters So I had to buy more gifts. Then in the evening sitting with friends drinking some beers discussing recent events in the world and in the village I live in.
Then Sunday morning waking up with the news (told by me mother) That my Grandfather (her father) had died last evening.
Now it already happened 3 days ago and still I really don`t know what to do with the feelings. Problem is that he was living on the Island of Curacao together with my grandmother. The distance also was the cause I haven`t seen him that much in my complete life... Still I really liked the man. A man with a wide interest. It didn`t matter what subject you were talking about he knew something about it. The man was quite interested in WW2 too.
It did not come as a complete surprise that he passed away since in the last 3 years there was found a type of cancer at him and the last 2 years he also had parkinson. Last 2 weeks he suffered from a severe case of pneumonia and that was his last disease here on earth.
Still the fact that it did not come as a surprise doesn`t make the fact nicer. Last week my grandfather reached the age of 76 which is still very young but after all his illness of the last 3 years it feels it is better now.

What I type here is more a tribute an my memories of the man. And on the other hand it is a way to try to write away my feelings and a try to get a more distinct feeling or better feeling about what happened. For me it is the first time a member of my family dies.... quite a strange event. Still not have the right words for it. Mother left Monday for Curacao to be there at the burial and she will return januari 15... No Christmas on Christmas but in Januari... But the passing away of my grandfather will throw a big Shadow over it .

I want to say thanks to my grandfather although I have not seen him much during my life... but I know he was a really good guy and he definately earned better then this. But since life decided to play unfair I think it is the best this way without more suffering

hhhhmmmm............

Ouch - that's bad news. I'm very sorry for your loss. It hurts anytime you loose someone in the family.
As you ease through this tough time remember the memories and stories and over time you will become more comfortable with it all.

I'm very sorry for you and your family.

Hey Robert:

My deepest condolences. I know the feeling. My grandpops was diagnosed with leukemia on christmas eve about 10 years ago. Told he had 3 months to live. It does put a damper on things.

Take care and keep the memories alive

Sorry for your troubles Robert,my wifes father died at this time,Xmas, some years ago,at the time the thought of celebrating made us all feel guilty, but over the years,we not only celebrate Xmas, but also his memory,he was a D Day Vet,so i hope that in the years to come you might equate Xmas with your Grandad.

Dear Robert and the Blokker family,
Sorry to hear about your loss, I'd like to offer my deepest sympathies. My family and I will think of you in our prayers.

Joe S.

God looked around his Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain.
And knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes,
He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly.
When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain,
We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again.
You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide,
You live on through your children, you're always by our side.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you on the day God called you home
