The longest you ever modeled for was longer than 12 hours
...As I type, it is 1:25 am, been modelling since noon as I will not be able to model tomorrow, Rememberance Day is an all day and night occasion here.
You know you're a modeller when:
- While working late on an army base, you risk arrest to break into a neighbouring unit's compound for reference photos (done!)
- your priority in a hobby room is not the drywall or the heating, it's the low-piled carpet for under your desk and adequate lighting.
- you have a fluorescent light mounted underneath your desk / work table!
- while watching a movie with your honey, she gets mad that you think that it is the best time to assemble track with all the lights on... and you begin to ask why she's ticked off!

when you go take your baby to clinic for montly checking and u ask the nurse for extra blades, gauzes and then head to the pharmacy and ask your friend's pharmacist wife to get some empty eyedropper bottle........
your're so eager when your wife ask you to take her to home decor store who happen to be some 50km away
you ask your kid brother-in-law to save the ice cream wooden sticks for you
you tell you wife to go to cake supply store to get more paisley leaves for your pasta (actually for your dio).......
you always look around for something that can be used for diorama materials even when you stop your car in the middle of highway cause your have a flat tyre.......
The more i know, the less I understand!!!!

I
had a bad morning till I read this thread
:-) :-) :-)
To be a bit more serious on this subject:
I think it was already obvious when I started to play with the famous Lego and Mecano
Always used to build tanks, aircraftcarriers, submarines (and they were all tested in the bath)
Man I sometimes miss that very much
:-) :-)

- you buy a zippo lighter but don't smoke but use it for streching sprue.
- you're dissapointed that your new job will actually involve work so you wont be able to visit all these cool forums as much.
- you're dissapointed that the hobby shop you wanted to visit on holiday took 150km to get to only had 3 kits.
- you don't throw anything away, because it might come in handy one day.
- you get a room for yourself, but end up having to sharing the room with SWMBO who then complains about the smell.
This is so much fun, it's freaky!

you know you have a modelers wife when:
she tells her parents, at least it keeps him home at nights......
she orders your models for you at your request....
doesn't really think you are regressing into second childhood...
knows that tamiya isn't a asian girlfriends name......
lets you know if s/h is too much on ebay items...
and you can get a better deal elsewhere...

Really good! :-) You could make some kind of "Modeller´s Test" and give different grades....
Example:
1-5 True Answers (TA): Don´t worry, it´s just a hobby to avoid work stress
6-10 TA: Beware, you´re almost ready to be sent to sleep in the couch...
11-15 TA: Gosh, your wife/husband has leave alone with your kits, and went with your childrens to live in the house of her/his parents.....
16-20 TA: You´re a nut case and your family it´s going to send you to a Rehab Program or to the Arkham Asylum.... :-) :-) :-) :-)
best regards
21-25 TA: you use the "I'm still afraid of the Russian nuclear threat" to spend all of your time in the basement (even though you weren't alive during the Red Scare).
26-30 TA: your significant other dumped you three years ago, got married, had kids, and lives in another state with a dark haired Latino named "Hernando," and you still think s/he's upstairs making breakfast.
31-35 TA: the LHS owner is your childs godparent.
36-40 TA: you live on the park bench outside your LHS so you don't waste valuable modelling time driving.
41+ TA: you make regular sacrifices to the monsters in your carpet and your religious tenets include "thou shalt not travel to hobby store and return empty handed."

- call your stash of unbuilt kits, "My retirement plan"
- have more kinds of hobby knives then kitchen knives.
- cannot throw away anything electronic without stripping out interesting shaped grebbles and wire.
- spend more time on you hands and knees looking for that lost part then walking the dog.
- can identify a particular shade of NATO grey but can't remember if the walls in your bedroom are beige or white
- have actually said "can never have enough 000 brushes"
- have 15 different grits of sanding film but only one pair of dress shoes
- can remember where and when you bought the last 25 kits in your collection but can't remember when you last bought underwear

it is when you can not wait for "Hobby Lobby" to have another 1/2 off on model kits. Then you tell your "SWMBO" to just think of the money you saved after spenting " a few dollars more"
One more thing after reading all five pages of this thread while at work and not get caught.

when you dont throw anything out with out first asking "can I use this to scratch build something?" or "wonder if there is anything inside I could use to detail with?"
Nothing quite like getting lost in plastic

When you visit a hobby shop and don't see a model that interests you. So rather than leave empty handed you buy a couple of paint tubs and get home only to realize that you already have three or four of the same color.

You Know your a modller when:
you know the release date and manufacture of evey sherman kit ever produced, but cant remember your wife's birthday.
You want to name your first daughter Tamiya.
Your wife asks you where her nylons are and you hide the new figure with the really neat helmut netting.
It doesn't take much to be better than nothing.
