A guy I thought was a friend gave me a Certi wz. 34 armored car. I thought to myself "OK, I'll just replace a few parts with styrene strip and sheet ..." I might as well scratchbuild the stupid thing.
Worst kit I ever finished: Alan SU-76. I can't believe DML re-boxed it. Maquette, too. Absolutely UGLY kit of an important WWII vehicle.

LOL...interesting convo!
Ummm...I have had a couple of models I messed up but in the end they turned out fine.
The worst model I have ever attempeted is the Dragon Sd.kfz. 165 "Hummel". the instruction are very poor and the peices are out of line, out of shape, and very difficult to get right with poor instuctions!

I can't remember the brand (it was during the 80s) but it was absolutely the most horrible kit I have come across. They're full hull 1:700 scale ships ( i bought two- HMS King George V and IJNS Kongo). Fit is good with fair details but on the port side, right in the middle of the ships, is a bloody hole and switch for motorisation (which means for the KGV, it lost the port forward two 5.25" AA turrets. Hell, there were only one shaft..purely to propel the ship in the bathtub!!!! Argghhhhh...even Tamiya's motorisation holes are underneath the model! Definitely the worst 'models as toys' example.
Oh, BTW, I still have those ships....as decorations in my tropical fish aquarium!

I share the same problem with you gatekeeper
I bought the dragon hummel a while ago.
I also had the problem with the poor fit of the parts
This vehicle is still not finished by now. biggest problem came with the gun
and that`s exactly the part where I stopped at this model
It`s still in the same position as I left it
in the box and hidden away very deep at the bottom of my cupboard.
Maybe if I really like to torture myself again I will get it out to finish it sometime

I saw a couple post here listed DML Hummel as the worst model. I have to respectfully disagree. Although with its inaccuracy here and there, it can be built into a nice representation of the vehicle. I had did this one out of box, and found no major fitting problem with it. I actually like it.
So far, maybe its my limited model experience, I haven't really encountered a very bad one...well, the DML Panhard was rather bad, but it's a rebox from some French maker...
