I put some Metallica in the player just now, and my 11 month old daugther is standing in front of one of the speakers, rythmicaly swaying from side to side... I swear she's trying to play air guitar with Daddy ( with "For Whom the Bell Tolls" playing in the background..)
Just thought I'd share this major milestone with you all,
Jim, we really need a headbanging emoticon.... :-)
 Cheers

Hi Dave,
Hey, that's a dam lot better than al this "gansta rap" that they listen to in those little supa novas that keep crawling up and down the road.. :-) .
We just enjoyed 8.20 minutes of " Master of Puppets" and are now savouring "Sad but True".. I'm going to put some "Paradise Lost" on in a minute..
I have the whole week-end off for the first time in some months, and I'm hard to pressed to think of a better way to spend it...
 Cheers
Henk

Hoi Henk!
LOL
Just imagine you tucking her in tonight singing "Enter Sandman" for her as nightsong:
'Hush little baby, don't say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beast under your bed,
In your closet, in your head'
She's up all night, I garantee you!! :-) :-)
But, as a mather of facts: I play Metallica in my car (as that is the only place I can play it LOAD. Now my daughter and oldest son like rock music too (I raised them well) so they don't mind.
And my youngest son (2 years old next week) does that same rythmicaly swaying like your daughter than in his safetychair in the back. He even raises his little fist :-)

 Ha! Dont'cha love it?
My 7 year old step-daughter LOVES the music I turn her on to.
 As of yet...
 The Pixies
 Dropkick Murphy's
 Metallica
 Primus
The Presidents of the United States of America
and a few others as well!
Mostly the music is played while driving and she ALWAYS wants it cranked up!
Seven years old! I love it!

Does it work the other way as well?
My daughter is 17, I have her listening to all the groups listed above and more, and in turn she has turned me onto the Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, etc...

i had over 600 songs in my napster library untill Metallica' and their lawyers scanned my puter, found Enter Sandman (the only song by them I had) and banned me for life from Napster....let me carefully word this so I won't get thrown out of the membership here for using foul language...
I DON'T LIKE THEM...THEY ARE BAD...MEAN...AND SHOULD GET A LIFE. IF I NEVER HEAR THEM PLAY ANOTHER SONG IT WILL BE TOO SOON...I HOPE LARS LOSES CONTROL OF HIS BOWELS AND HIS FINGERS ROT OFF...WHENEVER THEY ARE ON THE RADIO I CHANGE THE CHANNEL...I AM REALLY SURPRISED I EVEN ADDED TO THIS THREAD...
Do your kid a favor. Turn her onto the Beatles. My sons carry their guns and sing "All you need is love"...it's a nice kodak moment...
did i mention i do not like them?

Right with you, Kevin.
James Hetfield, who co-founded Metallica, said the military hadn't asked his permission or paid him royalties to blast his band's music in Iraq.

Hi Kevin and Shaun,
Without turning this into a Metallica bashing excersise (

) I do agree with your sentiments. I like the early Metallica, as it's raw, fast and loud... that's how I like some of my music. I thought they where losing the plot by the time albums like 'load' appeared, and when they went Country I switched off. Not that I'm against Country, but you don't wan't Pavarotti getting on stage doing a Slayer tribute do you.....

. As for the remark of James that the militairy had not asked his permission to play their music in Iraq, I didn't know about that ( I listen to music, I don't read the magazines..

) but that would seem a bit on the hypocritical side, taking songs like 'One' and their previously stauch support for the American Vets...
Anyway, enough soapboxing already, let's hear more of your favourite bands.
Cheers
Henk

No wonder shes a metallica fan, maybe soon some maiden, black sabbath, led zep, and all the otehr classics. With all the junk pop comming out with music clips involving 2 girls on a guy(sry to all hte pop fans) and a man taking high pitch notes to sound like a women, its no wonder the good old classics are comming back! what better than some maiden and a beer to start up a party?

this is rather coincident...
last night when i'm about to sleep, my 1year 8 months daugther went to me and cry loud..(she does that all the time because she didnt want me to sleep before her..) but last night she cried loud enough to make all the people in the house awake...
so i went down with her gave her toys, she throwed all of them hard..
i grab my old dusty acuastic guitar and play some folk songs.. this time she listen to my guitar but still crying...wanting to grab the guitar
after 5-6 songs...i (almost sleepy) remember some old songs that i used to play when i was younger.. so a cuple of metallica songs as well.. When i played Haverster of sorror (only the intro part) she started to bang her head and laugh... this was good so i played again and again until she actually sleep by my side..........
wife said this is bad influence...cant comment much as long as she didnt scream at night that what i told her...
The more i know, the less I understand!!!!
