I recently put a post up in the RRB about my russian M4A2 Sherman and I got some really nice and constructive coments that I really appreciated. But I also received two emails from two differnt people. These emails were nothing but rude and insulting. They basicly told me I had no right to post my work here, and how can the average modeler compete. I am a bit taken aback by the comments to say the least. I am probably more disapointed that these two people consider my work a threat. I will take this as a compliment gents I hope your reading this. My work is of no threat to anyone and as far as I am concerned its average. I am also going to remove my email from my profile as I have better things to do with my time than weed through emails from people who are so insecure that they have to resort to petty insults. I have been through a helluva lot worse than anything these two cowards can throw at me . This is a hobby and I will not partake in mud slinging or juvenile stunts. I will continue to post my work here only because I enjoy the constructive comments I get and the friendly banter. Sorry for the rant gents I just had to get this off my chest.
Cheers,
Bryan

This is disturbing news.
Part of the beauty of this site is the breadth of experience -- from novice to expert -- and how we all share, learn and support one another. Whoever is attacking Bryan ought to be ashamed of themselves and be grateful he has been gracious to share his work with us.

Good on you, Bryan. You go right on posting your gems. I for one enjoy seeing them,as you know, and seeing what is possible if one takes the time to apply his or her self. Will I ever reach your level of artistic skill? HA! Highly doubtful. But asking you to stop posting your work is akin to going to the National Gallery and asking them to remove all of their Renoirs & Van Goghs. (Don't go getting all Humble on us now Bryan, Your work IS art & is held in high esteem by most of us) As I see it the work of a master is meant to inspire us & Instill a desire to achieve, not to belittle or denigrate.

I recently made a comment that some guy's great work was making me look bad but it was all in fun and jest. Since I don't remember who I said that to I hope it was not me that upset you. I didn't email it so I don't think you are talking about me.
I would think that excellent work like yours should inspire others to take the time to put in the detail. I simply cannot understand it. I wouldn't let that type of talk bother you.

Well said Bryan. I think it is ridiculous for someone especially a member here to be critical of another members work for being too good!! Their jealousy really shines through when they resort to such tactics.
OK, I admit that I may get a bit envious when somebody posts work that I feel may be better than mine, but that is just my competitive spirit. And I am one of the first to give props and congratulate them! I also use that envy to my advantage as usually there is some how to posted. Seeing better work can only make you better as a modeler if you use it to your advantage. I am sure you didn't develop the skills you posess overnight and for somepne to degrade you like that is just petty! I don't know of too many here that are selfish and if someone needs help with a technique, people usually speak up. So I would have to ask those who sent you the emails, why?

Bryan
Keep posting pictures of your excellent models. If others don't like them, they don't have to look at them. I personally get great enjoyment from viewing yours and other peoples work as it gives me ideas for my future projects, and I learn a whole heck of a lot just looking at them. As for not having the "right" to post here, I thought that was one of the purposes of this site. How can you get suggestions, tips, pointers and constructive criticism [sic] if you can't post pictures.

Keep posting your work here Brian. We are all family here. And in all families we have a few bad apples. You are built of good solid stock and should not be bothered by the trivial remarks of a few inept individuals. I for one enjoy viewing your work and reading your post. Keep them coming Bro!!

Bryan,
That is really very disturbing, I for one love to see your work. I know it is a hundred times better than mine but I don't care it just makes me push harder to get my models better. I have also learnt a couple of good techniques from you.
So keep on posting and I look forward to seeing more of your awesome work

I think that we all learn from seeing pics of each other's models - but this site isn't a 'competition' . It's not about being best, it's about being a member of a community of fellow modellers.
It ain't you that has the problem Bryan, it's the small-minded phantom emailer!
Personally - I find that my own modelling improves by seeing work by others that I consider more skilled than I.

Well said Dave.
How anybody could consider anothers work a threat, is beyond me. I feel sad that somebody could actually feel this way.
Bryan ... keep them coming and keep getting better. We haven´t all lost it ... yet! I know, I for one, look forward to your in-progress shots ... and can only get inspired when I see your finished models.

Yeah Bryan, don't sweat it.
I am an amateur modeler at best and I can do nothing but THANK all the talented modelers here for teaching and inspiring me how to do better.
My father always taught me that in order to become good at something, you have to compete with or learn from those better than you, and in modeling, it couldn't hold more truth.
As with the others, this incident angers me as well. I deal with forums all day as part of my job, most posters being angry and insulting. It is so nice to come to the Armorama for a nice break from it all.
So thank you all for giving me a community that is so easy-going and great to be a part of.
Cheers,
Casey (BT)
P.S. It has been awhile, but does your sig quote say "It's the thunder that frightens and the lightening that kills?"

this realy sucks to hear, its disapointing to see some people cant be polite and constructive about someone elses work. My leadership teacher taught us that feedback isnt feedback if its meant to hurt, well now i see what she means (unfortunatly)
personaly, ive learned a lot since ive been stickign around, everyone ive pm'd for info were real polite with me, and realy usefull( Thanks to grumpyold man, he's defenatly the best example i have) and ive always had ncie comments from family members, b ut nothing constructive, while i got soem nice comments when i first posted my work.
if people are jealous of other peoples work, and decide to send them emails to insult them, its pathetic! ive done nothing more than encourage these talented indeviduals, soem are defenatly better than others, but thats the beauty behind armorama, we *usualy* all help each otehr out
jsut my 2 cents bout this
Frank

Howdy fellas,
Ya know, I was going to say something nice about our mate Bryan (even though he's from the 'Great White North' and all), but.......I decided to run his 'user signature' statement through the universal translator. You know, the one that says:
"...Is í an toírneach a scanríonn ach an tintreach a mharaíonn..." and you know what it says!?!.............It says:
".....Military modelers sniff too much glue, and have stinky feet!!...."
I'm not kidding...........sonofajackel !!!
Tread.
Hey pard'.....I just LOVE your Sherman work. I for one would be proud to drive your superb example of a Firefly and blow a big, 17-pound hole through that retched hulk of german steel that Shermie's has the audacity to put on his deckrail next to his other fine examples of Allied armour...........just lend me the keys.........

Sad to hear Bryan - but I think you've got the right idea on how to handle the situation. Personally, I like viewing the subjects you choose to share with us - keep 'em coming.
If it's any consolation - I experienced the same thing that happened to you in the early days of our site too...
Model on!

Okay, here is my humble and hirsute opinion on this matter:
When I joined this lovely community, I realized that we all have something to contribute and are at different skill/talent levels.
I abhor the idea of anyone going out of their way to state that someone should not post because of their abilities. Whether they be really really good, or bad, I feel that we each have a right to show our stuff here.
I'm grateful for the constructive critisism I've gotten thus far and for the welcome I received. I was a bit scared at first to show my feeble attempts at modeling, but was encouraged my one of my heroes (Logansdad) to actually have a gallery of my builds.
I don't think that because some of us are much better than the others, that they should not show their stuff. The masters of this craft give me impetus to strive for better results.
I'm still attempting to become one of them instead of one of us insofar as all of us sitting in my chair have been encouraged to go the Snap-Tite route time and again.
