What I am trying to ask is What is in your interest? For example, My interest lies in #1 WW-2 US Armor, followed closely by WW-2 British Armor. #2 US Viet nam Armor and soft skins. #3 Any kind of Artillery WW-2 thru modern.
So this is a question for any of you weather you build in Armor, soft skins, Artillery, figures or diorama's.
What Era, Nation, or Type spark your interest ?
Hope this did not confuse you to bad!
Garry
P.S. Everyone knows that I am a ship builder, but Armor has focused my interest here lately!

I "specialize" in U.S. armor in WWII, especially Shermans. This is mainly because I have a limited amount of money for references, plus, many of the parts can be cross-kitted to make more variants. I also like Soviet WWII armor and have developed a liking for Commonwealth WWII subjects as well.
In truth, I build all kinds of stuff that catches my fancy. I like to build WWII aircraft sometimes, an occasional civilian vehicle, and I also build stuff from comics, movies and television. I've built the old Horizon Indiana Jones kit, Dragonheart, some Jurassic Park dinosaurs, Judge Dredd, the Mummy, a Babylon 5 Starfury ... my kids are after me to build a Horizon "Professor Jones" (Sean Connery) kit I've had for several years, but I can't decide what sort of base to put him on.

I don't really specialize in certain things but I do love ODS, Ardennes and WWII desert campaigns. I love to build the Sherman, M2/M2A2/M2A2 ODS Bradley, Harriers and BF-109E-3/4s

Hi Gary...
My heart lies with Shermans, but occasionally I like to build some German armor as well....So the answer is: Anything, as long as it's WW II !!
The last few months my interrest is shifting to Russian armor, I guess that as long as I can sniff the glue fumes, I'm happy!! There's no way back for me....
It's just a matter of time....John. :-)

Swedish armor.
The problem is that there isn't that much to build unless you want to do some major scratch building.

I specialize in "not getting things build to a finish"... :-) :-) :-)
No seriously, I'm one of the 10 million WW2 German stuff builders. But I used to build whatever when I was young (a looooooonnnnngggg time a go).
However on special request I'm going to build a Bren carrier. I warned the person in question it could take a couple of months .

I specialize in modern military vehicles in 1/35 scale. "Modern" for me means from early 1960's (Vietnam war) till today. I build mainly US vehicles, but also German, British, French and ocassionally others, like Israeli or Australian. I generally don't build models of Russian or other eastern made armor, although I make exceptions from time to time.
I also gathered quite a collection of modern military aircraft kits in 1/48, again mostly US, but also some others. This however is only a collection of boxes right now, as I built just one 1/48 plane so far...

Hi, I find myself staying in W.W.II, mostly with German and Russian AFVs. Occasionally I do get a 'modern' kit, but it's kind of rare. I find myself fascinated by the bigger scales, so at the moment I'm rather taken by Trumpeter's big 1/16 scale T-34s. Hopefully this is just a start of the bigger sized models.
Take care, Sgirty

I make most things that take my fancy but in terms of what interests me historically here is a short list :-)
WW2:
Development of British Armoured Doctrine
Allied Grand Strategy
British Operations in NW Europe
RAF Ops
Dieppe
Battle of France 1940
The War in Burma
WW1:
The War in Air
Development of Battle Tactics
The Western Front
Palestine
Anglo-German Naval Rivalry
19th Century:
French Army of the 2nd Empire
German Wars of Unification
Franco-Prussian War
Crimean War
And the History of the French Foreign Legion
I know its a long list but i'm one of those people who starts reading one things then picks up another that interests me. Hence why my personal library keeps on multiplying. The wife doesn't like it but she just doesn't understand that i must know everything :-) From this list stems what a generally like to model but as i said if it is a good kit i will build it.

Probably my very favorite is German Armor. Lately I have been buiding twice as much American stuff, but that ranges from WW-2 to date. I consider it like a double scoop of Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip when I build German tanks.

Mostly:
WWII German Armor
WWII German Aircraft
Modern US Armor
Modern US Aircraft
Star Wars and Star Trek Sci-Fi
Hhmm, I never noticed a pattern before. What would Freud say about it?
Leave it to a question in Armorama's Forum to learn something new about myself...

I build lots of non-Trek sci fi stuff.
SF3D, Macross Valkyries Fighters and Gerwalks -but not the clunky looking Battroid mode- , Yamikaze fighters, Cowboy BeBop, Appleseed, Patlabor.. especially the APC's and MBT's in these last two.
Looking at this list I think I like things that are futuristic, but still bear a resemblance to things today.
But I do not like the Gundam look or the clunky 'retro' look of stuff like the Scopedogs or that new Tasca Sci-fi tank.
I favor a more streamlined look.
The armor I build is also 'futuristic' or cutting edge for it's time.
Panthers looked futuristic for their time, especially with the IR stuff.
Merkava's and the T62/64/72/80 series look futuristic to my eye as well.
I like the modified and adapted look of IDF armor for the same reason.
So a Leopard 2A5/Strv 122 is cool, but a Panzer 1 or worse yet a 38t would NOT.
I also build attack helos and strike aircraft. Mostly Russian again Hinds, Hokum and Havok
Strike a/c A-10's, F-15E, Su-25 all look great with tons of ordianace hanging off them.
Star Wars was just so different from all the other sci-fi of it's day that I guess I got hooked there too. But until they do the Republic Gunship or a Destroyer Droid, I'm going to stay away from Episode I-II. nothing there really interests me.
Interesting topic.

G'day all.
My era is Australian Army 1890's - 2004 and onwards. Mostly M113's (six years of fun in them) and anything relating to the Australian Light Horse.
I also dabble in WW2, and starting to have an interest in 1st centry Roman.
Cheers Jason

My main modeling interests are:
1) Figures - all periods
2) Late WW2 - Normandy landings and beyond
3) Vietnam war
I build mostly dioramas with armor in supporting role if necessary.

Ciao garrybeebe,
WWII - Italy - 1943 through 1945. Narrow, but it's what I like. I just wish they would produce more "Italian Campaign" related things - hopefully one day!!
Ciao for now

I'm a nut for anything regarding the American Civil War and the American West with a lot of ancient history thrown into the mix as well. The only problem is there's a dearth of affordable figures in those time periods (not including soft pastic) and no virtually no models (let alone affordable), so I've been hunkering down and wasting gobs of Magic Sculpt, Aves, and clay practicing 54MM figure scultping and scratchbuilding.
Anyway, if you guys happen to see the Andrea Viking longship for less than $550 or their stage coach for less than $200 lemme know! Otherwise I gotta try to scratch 'em.

Soft skins any era. But the Vietnam era is my all time favorite
