how to pressure cast your own stuff at home? I just put together some materials that have basically allowed me to pressure cast stuff in resin. The difference between this and just pouring some resin into a mold is day and night. I was floored. Anyway.......Just trying to get a feel for how many of you out there would like to hear more on it so that you might want to have a go at it yourselves. Its pretty easy. I'm putting together a parts/equipment needed list and plan on doing a down and dirty "how to" article as well. Let me know how you guys/gals feel about it. Thanks "Q"

Matt, cool. Interested to see how you went about getting yours set up. Great response so far. I will start getting my materials list together and also start on the write up. I have classes all week, so it might be a little daunting, but I'll get it done. Thanks for the responses folks! "Q"

P.s. The good folks at Plus Model showed me how they do it and let me take pictures.

Howdy Red4,

I would absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt, you bet, bring it on, don't forget about me, like to hear/read your Intel on 'Pressure-Casting'.

I suppose I've been fortunate to have been shown pressure casting from the start. My friend over with the guys at the 'Colorado Crew' (a Colorado ship building fraternity) showed me pressure casting right away. They completely skipped over the 'Pour' method and almost exclusively use the 'Pressure' method. Reason being is they usually work in 1/700th scale, and they need the pressure to get the resin into all those microscopic nooks and crannies.
In fact, because of my being in the Construction trades, Hugh (the guy I know at the 'Crew') has asked me to build an elongated pressure tank so that they could do the larger, full hull ships.

Anyway, didn't mean to rant. It's an interesting technique, and one I'm sure many of us could learn from. So, I'm definitely ALL EARS!

Tread.

Interested!!

I just made my first try in resin casting and all the time y had to spend filling and sanding made me thought that the effort was not worthy.
