My biggest annoyance lately is when I join the fuselage halves and the recessed panel lines are miles away from matching up on each half. Filling and rescribing them is a pain.

My biggest pet peeve is short shots-i.e. incompletely molded parts. Doesn't happen too often, but when it does, it's quite frustrating.

painting roadwheels is also a pain, im starting to prefer wheeled vehicles!

I can deal with various defects in the kit due to quality control, i.e. short shots, warped or missing parts and such by requesting replacement parts or returning the kit. I can even overlook inaccuracies in the various kit and do not mind purchasing aftermarket bits to replace them.
It is when a perfectly molded kit with no apparent faults just does not fit. These engineering faults annoy me the most. It's like they didn't even build the kit after they made the first test shots.

Attaching bad decals! you know, the kind that break apart when you touch them in order to move them. GRRRRRRRR!

Now that is frustrating!

I'm with several people here. As far as the kits themselves I hate ill fitting kits more than anything. As Sabot says, it's like they didn't even put the model together after they finished the mold.
As for building the kits, nothing is worse than road wheels. I've got a perfectly good Churchill waiting to be built but I just can't face all those road wheels.

Oh, gosh, I'd have to say when either I have a great kit, it's built, just ready to be painted, and something BREAKS

! Sometimes I think I have gremlins who break antannas and warp barrels while I sleep! Thanks for your time.

Hi Shonen
I echo everything said before and will add... surface texture.
Some aircraft kits have a fine "pebble dash" finish... I've heard it explained as a consequence of computer-milling, but I hate it!!

Polishing
every exterior surface to lose this totally un-scale texture isn't my idea of fun.
Gggrrr... whinge over

Almost everyone else seems to hate roadwheels. Normally they aren't too much of a problem, but I've just painted the wheels for a StugIV - DAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

For me, as of late, it has to be the mis-guided, ill-conceived, way-too-vague instructions that come with some resin kits.
Look. You get a resin update set that contains about 30 to 50 pieces and a one page instruction that shows the completed model and all the new parts installed with arrows and numbers pointing all over the place! What the? Most of us can fix fit problems, but when it comes to where the part goes...

I don't mind the ejector pin marks, if it is on a flat surface you can get to that has no detail, but when it is in the middle of fine detail, now I don't like that at all and you have no room to get into to redo the fine detail, and decals with 20 different ones numbered, then when they show the picture on where to put the decals they only have like 9 letters to show where they go, and there is no cross reference between the numbers and letters, and none of the pictures show them either except 2 of them.

For me it's when parts don't fit as they should.
When cockpits are too big or wide for the space between the fuselage halves.
My other is vac-canopies, especially when there is only one provided.

I saved the Revell 1:48 Intruder bought from the Air and Space museum circa 1988 (apparently something of a classic according to Ebay prices) to build up my skills to the point where I would be good enough to do it...forward until last month when I found it in my closet, build it up, and find...the decals shred when they touch water. The freakin' irony! Have fun trying to find decals for a high-vis Intruder in 1:48.
