Hello,

I've been psoting a few replies here and there and figured I'd take a minute to officaly introduce myself.

I've been modeling off and on for about 20 years and have dabled in everything from model railroading to muscle car models. Most of my 'experience' though was in buliding model planes (1/72 scale) and model rockets in my early teens. I got into Armor about 5 years ago after a long break from doing anything related to models. So far I've built about a half a dozen kits, mainly out of the box or with a few minor modifcations. I'm a modern armor nut so most of my posts will probably be there or in the tools/scratchbuilding area because thats the part I love about this hobby; building. You don't need a huge garage/shop and half a mil in tools, like my buddies who are into collecting real vehicles

I've got 11 years and going in the Army/ArmyGuard as a "redleg" (artillery) and I'm currently serving an AGR tour as a readiness NCO in a M109A5 battery. Been a Howitzer Section Chief (13B) and a Fire Support specialist/NCO (13F) and did a brief stint on the 'darkside' (army logistics ) as a supply sergeant in a D/S maint company.

I've been on checking out this site before and during my last week of leave I've got some time to really check it out and I'm impressed. Great site and I've already picked some great tips from y'all.

great site, look forward to getting 'schooled' from everyone here,

Thanks

Brian

Welcome to another fellow Vermonter. (I'm originally from Springfield and my folks still live in town). Been on active duty myself for the last 17 years and finally got a posting only 120 miles or so from home. I'll only be here another 6 months or so.

Sir,

Great to hear! I'm from Richmond VT and liked it so much I re-settled not far from where I grew up. Where did you attend college/ROTC? UVM, Norwich?

RFTA Devens, nice place I just wish DOD hadn't let it get as gutted as they did. It sucks for us we have to go to Ft. Drum to get to a decent MCSS or anything else. I've known guys that have gone to RTSM you command and they've had nothing but positive things to say. The H8 course is a real hit.

Thanks for the welcome and I hope your next duty station is warmer if it can't be closer to home.

No, I did not go to college in Vermont. I went to Hofstra University to wrestle. I was accepted to attend Norwich, but the old joke back in high school was that Norwich would accept you if your age and IQ added up to 50. And the age was waiverable.

That's good to hear. There is another MCSS on Hanscom AFB, but it isn't anything to write home about. Some of the best ones I've been to recently are the ones at Ft. Lee and Ft. Dix.

Howdy Smoke86,

First let me shout a warm welcome to you for joining our happy group of modelers here at Armorama!
And second. Artillery huh? Well, let me perform a shameless 'plug' here for a hopefully upcoming Artillery Group Build. Check it out if you desire on the Forums. It's under the heading 'Artillery Group Build... Interest?'

Again, welcome aboard!

Tread.

Tread,

Thanks I already got wind of it and I'm certainly interested and I think its a great topic for a group build. Depending on the time line I'd love to do it. I'll keep my eyes on it.

Thanks

Hello and welcome! It's always great to have folks like you with real world experience with the things most of us only see in plastic. Helps to keep us honest (not that there's any problem with that around here). I look forward to seeing you around the site.
