Hi Nige - I really just use the basic tools mate - I don't even work with a modelling knife - it's your basic retractable Stanley HD for me!! I know what ya mean with the punch sets; very desirable but every time I save up I think ..... that'll buy a LOT of white stuff!!

For rivets and bolt heads I simply slice up hex rod and round in various diameters TBH I can never see the hex shape below 0.5mm which is as small as I go. I normally sit at the coffee table when I'm not actually building and cut up a length and simply store them in small labelled pots for future use. I estimate a 300mm length will give you a good (useable) 400-500 bolts/nuts!

The most useful tool I've found is an adjustable (2 - 4.5mm in 0.5 increments) leather wheel punch, like this:

You are obviously aware of KFS, Nige but did you know that they have got the licence to produce a Lightweight in 1/24 now.
Hope you will still finish yours though.

I am still enjoying my build as it is stretching my grey cells that bit more to figure out how to make various bits and bobs.

I don't consider it a bother that KFS are making their resin version cause I know that theirs will be perfect in every way. It will be interesting to set mine beside one just to see how far out mine is from their masterpieces.

The DAF DROPS cab is a work of art and I have enjoyed mating my work onto it. If I get the chance I will be buying the Bedford MK as going by Spencer's build it is itself a masterpiece.

Sorry nothing new on the Landy for now, but as you will know I have taken a growth spurt on the DAF and it has taken priority.

That said, I don't think the Landy has a massive amount to do on it if I just make it for general service. Making Clansmen radios or the frame work inside might be a little more involved.

I am hoping to restart the project after the Perth Model show under the Land Rover campaign. I was hoping to have the DROPS finished and have moved back onto the Lightweight already.

Am on holiday and had too much stuff to take with us to the caravan so I am now twiddling my thumbs.

Thanks to Steve, I now have two correct tyres and wheels for the Sankey trailer ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, what a star !!!!!!!!!!!

Had to cut the hubs off the axle and pin through the white metal brake drums so that I could fit them to my simple tube axle already fitted



I believe these are the KFS set and it is obvious to see the quality of the production that is offered !!!!!!!!!!!!



I am much happier with the overall look now and will get around to spraying them up when I have a few more parts for the TM ready to spray too
