Actually not so new, but usually got hung with that tag when reporting to a new duty station.
Hello my name is Chuck, from So. Cal., Navy vet now inactive reserve. Been modelling since 1968 (8 yrs old). Seriously for accuracy when about 17-18yrs old. Stopped for awhile for the usual things, college, girls, career, girls, cars, girls, family, no more girls. But was picking up kits here and there without actually building them. Got back into it with both feet in 1992 while TAD in Ct as a liason between the Navy and Sikorsky Aircraft. Met a couple of nice people there in Milford in a nice little family owned shop called Hobby Haven. So now with a decent amount of kits, tools, and some time I have been completing 3-4 projects a year. Have 3-5 going at a time. Currently doing a Desert Storm project all aircraft that participated Allied and Iraqi in 72nd scale. My emphasis is USN in 48th scale, but I got the WWII bug also. Here is one current project in wing assy stage.
Taken with a D-550, Olympus digital. Tamiya, Lancaster Dambuster MkIII kit. (One of the kits brought back from Ct. in 1992).
Thanks for having me,
Have a Fine Navy Father's Day!

Hi there
Welcome fro another newbie - still wet behind the ears! You've found a great site with a great bunch of people.
I agree with Holdfast. Great looking Lanc! (and you've managed to upload a pic - ah! the fun I've had... ). I've got one stashed away which cries "build me, build me" whenever I pass the cupboard... one day!
Have fun!
Rowan

I built a B.1 back in 1975, before the seam work, airbrush, all the old fashion way with Testors glue and Polly S Acrylics and a brush. The fit is fine for it's age. The only thing is the work on the eng nacelles does take some work to make them presentable. Otherwise no real surprises. Though the panel rescribing is a bit tedious. Good thing I have more than one project going. And by the way thanks for the salutation, very much appreciated.
