Steve it's sad to hear.
My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Your fathers work has always inspired me to try and make something out of raw materials and use your head rather than your wallet to create beautiful builds.
I always think of him when scratching things , to me scratching models = BARV.............................. aye.............

I never met your father but I enjoyed viewing his work here and reading and participating in his threads and postings. His inspiration to us all will be sadly missed.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your family..

Hi all,

Just a wee word to say on behalf of my mum and I "Thank you" for all your replies on the death of my dad.
My mum and I decided to honour his love of model building he will be wearing his IPMS Dundee Club shirt with his Bulldog patch he had sewn on his arm.
We thought this way it also honoured his link with the model building community.

Thank you again

Such sad news to hear.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the family. BARV will be sadly missed as a very talented and prolific modeller. Will say a prayer for him the next time I'm crawling round the vehicles at Borden.

Steve -

I am so sorry for your loss. As an old guy just returning to the hobby, your father's work and posts both inspired me and taught me.

Clearly your loss is far greater than ours, but he will be missed by all of us.

Semper Fi,
Dave

Steve, I am truly sad to hear of your father's death, and offer my sincere condolences. Like everyone else has stated, I was inspired by his work.

I didn't know him except through this site, but he was a true gentleman. He went out of his way to provide several photos, diagrams and even short videos to help me with a problem I was having with one of my builds, and he will truly be missed by us all.

Dear Steve
Your dad was a really nice kind giving man.
I had the pleasure of meeting him on about 6 occassions, mostly at IPMS nationals.
He was just great. He always remembered my name, he must have known so many people.
I am really sorry he has gone. I will always remember him.
Take care

Steve and Family

Well you can see by the extent of these posts how strong people felt about Steve (BARV) the person and indeed his fine work. I can only add to this strength of feeling by expressing my gratitute to him for the time and patience he had for me whilst dealing out some great hints and tips that will stick with me more so than any book might ever do. I only knew him for a very short time.

I had been at him many a time to do a video on how to scratch build, as he was truely the king. I am pleased that I had a chance to meet the man himself and his family who all follow in his footsteps with the same great attitude to this hobby and life. I wish your family all the very best in this sad time. I hope that you are able to take to heart how much an influence Steve has been on others and this allows some solace to you.

I can imagine BARV knocking out a scratchbuild or two up there in the time we have had to chat here.

I hope his fine model collection will live on at the Royal Engineer's museum as a tribute to him, even his last piece of work that he was on even through his illness.

All the very best

Nigel

Dear Steve and family
May I offer my sincere condolences at what must be a very sad time for you and your family.
I'm devastated by the news of your fathers death,I have only just found out as I have been out of the hobby for a while,so please forgive me for the lateness of this post.
I had the great pleasure of meeting him in person, and I hung on his every word, his scratchbuilding skills were second to none, and I loved the weird things he used to build, truly amazing.
This hobby will miss such a skilled modelmaker and a true gentleman.
My prayers are with you

I know this comes really late, but I seldom read the General forum and I just saw this post.

Steve, I would just like to offer my sincere condolences to you and the family. I've always enjoyed following your father's work... and his funny remarks.

He was a great soul and will be missed.

As with Hisham, this also comes late...

My deepest condolences to you and your family, Steve. Even now, months later, you must still really feel the loss. Your Dad was an inspiration to many, and helpful to all who asked. His absence is certainly noticed here.

Again, Steve, I am so sorry for your loss.
