Well I see that I am the first to admit to being a lawyer (solicitor actually) - one of the most trusted profession in the modern world . To make myself even more popular I am an acting Magistrate and get to spend my days influencing people (not really winning any friends though )

My real job title is Principal Registrar of the Magistrates Court and like Silantra I have a few other titles:

Deputy Coroner
Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages
Deputy Registrar (& Sheriff) of the District Court
High Bailiff
Clerk of the Court

Supposed to be called "Your Honour" in Court - however have had a few other names such as "You F***en fat C**t" - ( I won't tell you what happened to him - but I did suggest to him that perhaps slightly overweight would be more accurate) Aah well all in a days work!!!

I used to work for the U. S. Gov't as a distributor of high explosive devices (an artilleryman). Now I am a Certified Public Accountant currently working as a software developer and business analyst for a Clinical Research Organization.

To be honest, I liked making loud noises much better that balancing books.

ROTHFLMAO!

I feel your pain Dave! I feel it. Nothing like a little DPICM or some "Shake and Bake." Sorry, I know this is

So, back on topic...........

I am currently employed by Colorado State University's Global Campus (online). I'm officially the Veterans Affairs/Military Liaison. However, this being a new campus, I'm not able to do exactly what I was hired for....not yet. So, in the mean time I fulfill the part of the job description of: "and other duties as assigned." Trust me, there are no issues of this with me...where I work now is awesome....damn, just walk in the door and you can feel the "electricity!"

I have a PhD in physics and used to work with unmanned space missions. I hated it though because there was WAY too much writing involved - seemed like 60% of my work load at least.

So I quit being a research scientist about 3 years ago. I am now a "software quality assurance engineer" - which means it is my job to stress software applications till they break and then tell the developer to fix it.

I am a lot happier now, have a lot more time for myself, get paid better, and I like the people I work with a lot more too.
